Start the season with three comfortable wins, averaging 9 more scoring shots than our opponents, but we should be making sure Nick Daicos gets involved in more one on one contests, just because...
It’s unbelievable isn’t it? When will they get it? Why would any coach have Daicos in a “contested” or “accountable” role when he is among the best users and runners in the league? Any player can defend for him. Good players play to their strengths. We won’t ever know if Daics will be good defensively because he’ll be dominating in attack while the opposition fails to run with him.

Obviously not affiliated with either club. Sam will be an absolute champion for Carlton and will be one of the modern day greats. However Nick is in another stratosphere. I have never seen a more complete player in only his 2nd year in the system. It is terrifying how much better he will get with time. I know this is a big call, but Nick will end up as the greatest Magpie of all time and one of the very best ever to play our great game (only barring injury).

Walsh right now, but could be a very interesting debate in a few years when Daicos bulks up and can play midfield full time. His ball use is superb.

Both excellent talents either way. Will captain their respective clubs one day.
I was expecting the same as you pretty much but Daicos is well clear now in his second year, they’ve tried the hard tags on him and they haven’t worked, I agree with what someone said that he can get exposed the other way but that’s the way we want him to play.

Daicos is literally just running anywhere he wants showing zero accountability for an opponent, 41 on the weekend with 1 tackle. Never puts his nose over it, we saw what happened against Brisbane when he does.

I'd take Walsh any day of the week, contested football, good on the outside.

Im not sure Lachie Manchild Jones who's never tagged in his whole career trying to run with him for 1 qtr can be considered a 'hard tag'. Matt Deboer was a hard tag, Jones was more like a practical joke.

Ok so the other clubs are just letting one of (if not the best) ball user in the comp to rack up high 30’s week after week, got it.

You watched any footy media recently? Literally nobody can believe nobody is going near the kid and its also a hot topic on most forums too. The last proper tag he got was Ryan Clarke last year and he absolutely pulled his pants pulled down. This year coaches have simply chosen to let him run free.

36 uncontested possessions on the weekend is indicative how little attention he gets from his opponents.

To me I'd be calling for Voss' head if he didnt stick a hard tag on him when we play them, probably the best kick at his age I've ever seen so it's not like he's Tom Mitchell at Hawthorn getting useless possessions that amount to nothing, he does damage.

Good luck with that.

I’m asking. What designated run with player has a team deployed in him?

Serious question.
Nobody. Lachie Jones tried for a quarter but he's not a tagger, that's it since Sydney last year

Even Ross conceded in his presser that next time they play, Saints fans can be assured he won't let that happen again. Could have played Windhager on him who had some huge games as a tagger on some of the best mids in the comp last year
