Spot on. We are blessed to watch, playing for out team, one of the greatest players that will ever play the game. At times I think both the general public, pies fans and AFL commentators dont give Nick the respect he is due - GAJ had the same problem. To back up and go beyond their parent is incredible. Nick is amazing. The thing that stands out to me is he does exactly what every junior player is taught to do, like handball and receive. He just does it better, he runs so hard and he kicks so well.
Nick is obviously incredibly gifted, but it's his ultra-professional attitude to training and preparation which sets him apart.

He is a distributor.
He has to remain an outside player because his distribution of the ball is more important than winning it in the first instance.
That’s for others to do.
He'll play Dane Swan's midfield role. Circling the edge of the pack and pouncing when it bobbles in his direction.

That'll be McRae's mantra, and it sure does help, but the reality is he's a freaks who sees what's happening much quicker than everyone else and executes with impeccable technique and skill.

Swanny also wasn’t scared of being the inside bull when it was his turn. I doubt Naicos will ever be the ball of muscle that Swan was, but he will play the inside role at times when needed and do it just as well as he dies everything else.

Swan didn't often crash in. That's why Luke Ball was so important.

Already leads coaches' award by 9 with surely another 10 coming.

Thinking of the Brownlow and it being a "midfielder's" award. I've always seen it as a disposal, basic stats award. It's hard for umpires to miss 30+ disposals and 2 goals, which Nick has now done 3 times and then all the other games where he's also had plenty of the ball. He's clearly a chance.

I've never been too fussed about Brownlows and lean a bit towards thinking maybe it's better if he doesn't win it. Too many early accolades for a young player can be a problem. Nick does seem like the type who could handle it though.
