Saints tried their best to Queens bday Jack Watts him tonight but failed miserably

Nick is way ahead of Watts Mentally and probably as a Player as well even now

That thing about brothers playing together - chemistry, connection, whatever it is - Josh played one of his best games tonight. He seemed more confident, poised, assured - all because his kid brother was out there with him?

I knew everyone was over hyping his talent; Disposals only 2nd best, metres gained only 2nd best (even he did get a full 84% game time) , tackle count 4th best a full 1 of the pace, no gaols, no goal assists, no scoreboard pressure at all, and not even one hit out. I thought he was supposed to be pretty good?

This is likely to catch a few out. 😉

And he couldn't have looked happier in the post match interview on the ground. I can just imagine how proud mum and dad were of the pair of them.

Think you will find he had at least 1 goal assist

His most impressive moment for me was in the 1st quarter, he was sitting under a high ball deep in the Saints forward line, and he was gonna get crunched if he took possession...

...so he tapped back over his head to Sidey perfectly and then linked up in the possession chain as we exited D50.

Insane situation awareness and decision making. He'll be one of the very best players we see in this generation.

How exciting was that play after the 50m penatly near the end of the 3rd quarter where he charged up the middle and kicked a beauty dead straight up the guts that bounced off Elliott's chest 55m out. I loved his awareness of the opportunity, his confidence to take it on and his execution of the kick was perfect.

Did you see much of Daics (when he was a kid) Loki?
That is who Nick reminds me of, that free flowing running midfielder. You're right that Josh has short burst changes of direction that remind me of Daics (and his kicking style is pure like his dad's....still waiting to see a torp though) but young Nick just runs like his dad did as a young player. He was everywhere as a centreman for a couple of seasons!

No i was too young, more his later career on replays.

But imo in terms of "movement" and kicking style Josh looks much more similar.

I know many who saw Peter prior to his knee said he was an excellent midfielder who racked them up and accumulated high possession so I guess in that sense Nick is similar.

I know Nick in his junior years is a goal kicker but Josh actually exudes a bit more of the attacking movement x factor in his play so far.

Obviously Nick is both very limited games and b not in a role that is going to allow him to showcase his goal kicking flair often. But even in movement Nick is very measured where as Josh has the elusiveness.

A very good player. Kicking is excellent. Awareness next level. Just need to be careful he doesn't get in to the Treloar habit of over the shoulder handballs when under pressure. Hope he gets a little time on wing and half forward during year, to help round his development.
We need our 2 Gun Midfielders for the next 10 years.....we have found Batman - just need his Robin now.
