Sounds great, but refs in youngster leagues rarely pay charging fouls - partially to encourage driving, but partially because the defenders regularly shuffle their feet when they are about to take a hit.

Secondly, there are lots of situations where it doesn't matter if your fake is unsuccessful - fake a shot and the bloke isn't fooled, you just get to try something else - same with a lot of fake passing. Fake a handball in AFL, if the bloke isn't fooled, you're in trouble.
Agreed there isn't as much latitude in AFL, but many people who haven't played it or followed it closely have no idea how physical basketball can be.

I played basketball at the state junior level but discovered motorbikes and girls ;)

Looking over at the Nicks site there are still a number of ermmmm people who still insist Nick's name was a major factor in recruitment :roflv1:.

Words quite simply fail me - he's averaged 35 possies and a couple of goals at club and representative junior football.

Some people truly are hopeless causes.

They’re not entirely wrong. We couldn’t have recruited him if his name wasn’t Daicos (or that of some other 100+ gamer for Collingwood).

TRS couldn't is a big difference from wouldn't.

The inference was he was recruited because of his name, not his performances.

I've read that often enough on both sites over the years about a number of players.

Remember how 'useless' Josh was viewed as being by more than a few hear?

Of course the Brown brothers aren't world beaters and provide fuel for that particular flame but neither were they recruited to be.

My point is both here and on Nicks there are a hard core who play this same tired old song every time a father / son rolls around.

God help us when Jet comes along.

Great words from the Wiz but for me the highlight was Fly.

It's the first chance I've had to sit down to listen to him properly.

"Don't be afraid of the mistakes - embrace them"

That stands out to me as the way forward, any person only grows through learning from their mistakes. This begins in the cradle and hopefully continues until we make that final journey.

It applies not only to the playing group but to the club and if we are truly supporters it applies to us here as well.

I have only one word to express my wish for the playing group and the club as we embark on this season.

EXELSIOR!!!

I think this will be the difference from Bucks
“Don’t be afraid of the mistakes “
Players were too afraid to make mistakes and played conservative football

First class content from the club, well done.

I love what Fly is about, I love the language he's using and I have no doubt that it will resonate with the playing group. He is a natural people leader and the culture he's trying to foster will set us up for success.

Daics spoke well too - he hit me in the nostalgic nerve.

Go well tonight, Nick!

Not long now and we get to see to Daicos boys run around.
Now Nick has got all the limelight and fair enough but being a brother and competitive I think Josh will be eager to have a good year.

I knew everyone was over hyping his talent; Disposals only 2nd best, metres gained only 2nd best (even he did get a full 84% game time) , tackle count 4th best a full 1 of the pace, no gaols, no goal assists, no scoreboard pressure at all, and not even one hit out. I thought he was supposed to be pretty good?
