I think poor Nick is so talented he’s a victim of his own standards now - 25 touches for him goes under the radar but when De Konig or Newcombe have a good game they are supposed raging favourites each week for the RS.
I don’t really care about the award but I do think Nick will have the better body of work overall at years end, performs consistently high.
The award didn’t really work out for us last time but even if he doesn’t win it I wouldn’t swap the kid, he is a talent. Glad he’s on our side.

Someone likened it to the Pendlebury effect a page or so back and I think this is spot on. What he does is exceptional and he does it with such a level of consistency and (seemingly) effortlessness that you really start to take it for granted.

Yep, I'd even go as far as to say Daicos this year is similar to Pendles in year 3, or at best year 2 (where he came second to Selwood in the RS).

Has already exceeded expectations this year.
His match last week went grossly unheralded. Like a junior symphony conductor 😀
Can’t wait till he actually physically matures. So good is Nick

He has the Potential being 1 of the Very Elite Players in the AFL in his Prime

Rising star , Brownlow , yes , nice momento”s for the individual to hang up on his man cave wall , this is the side dish , our boy Nick is taking us to the promised land , he can also hang his Normie up , whilst he is at it , ask Bobby Skilton what he thinks about his 3 Brownlows , He would forsake all of them just to play in one Grand Final .

I think the relentless efforts from oppo supporters to play down his potential, as well as the AFL media world’s relative silence on what has been a sensational first 12 games from an 18 year old, is all the proof you need that oppos are scared of how good he can be.

He’s been absolutely incredible for a small bodied first year player and it just wouldn’t go unnoticed if he was at Hawks or Tiges. I reckon it’s a “If you don’t admit that he’s real, he can’t hurt you” kind of thing.

This is MY opinion BB.

1 simple fact outweighs all the excuses for me.

8 preseasons and he still hasn't got an AFL level tank.

Totally unacceptable.

You keep spruiking this but where’s the evidence to support your claim? How much territory is he covering and at what pace? How does that compare with last year and the year before?

Along the lines of “Don’t Look Up”

He only deals in facts, apparently. His opinions are so factual that there's no evidence needed

I agree that the Rising Star award isn't the be all and end all but I feel like Nick would be the type of kid to really appreciate winning it. I reckon it would somewhat make up for the fact that he didn't get to go Pick 1 🤷
After having a chip on his shoulder about being pick 4, not winning the rising star despite deserving it might light an unquellable fire in him.

Might not be the worst thing for a talent like him - The only question about his success is how hard he works and consequently how good he gets.

Anything to keep the fire burning is a good thing.

His Defensive Work was Good last week vs Hawks.

Know as a Hard Worker

Up until this year I would've said Stephenson was pretty easily the best first-year player I've seen at Collingwood.

Nick's season has been so much better than that it's crazy. He's absolutely already a victim of his own consistency and is already a top-10 player at the club.

Most other players will never achieve his level of poise and decision-making, can't wait to see what he can do once he gets a bit bigger.

He's definitely worked extremely hard to this point, but I'm talking about constant improvement, all season and all off-season, like Pendlebury has been known for.

If Nick Daicos can keep his workrate up, we might be lucky enough to see Pendlebury hand off the side to our next "greatest of all time" contender, just like Buckley did to Pendles.
