Article on him in today’s Herald Sun saying that he’s on a backended deal of close to a mil next year, and that he’s been largely pushed out of the GWS backline of late. Started as the sub on the weekend and then played wing.

The last thing GWS would want is a 32yo who’s barely best 22 taking up almost a million dollars of their 2024 cap.

Not sure who else would be desperate for him though at anywhere near that amount, so GWS might have to either pay a big chunk of it, or significantly sweeten the deal.

He’d probably only be worth around around 500k in 2024. I’d think clubs would be open to taking him at that cost, how that looks in a trade though I’m not sure.

I'd imagine it would be a Bowes type deal. I think gws would be pretty keen to get the contract off of their books.

This will be the Bowes deal of 2023.

If GWS land a 3rd top 10ish pick from Himmelberg, 1 of them will go with Haynes imo.
If they were salary dumping Haynes, wouldn't it be for the purpose of keeping Himmelberg? Not sure why they'd let both go

Sounds logical.
How about we take Haynes' contract and Ash, while GWS make Himmelberg and Cadman handsomely rich and keep their picks.
As in a trade, Haynes and Ash for Port Adelaide's first? I doubt GWS does that.
Maybe Haynes, Ash,8 for Norths 2024r1.
Maybe neither GWS or North like that deal.

Alright, forget Haynes.
Tarryn Thomas for Lachie Ash.
Does Ash want to go to North?
Maybe TT,2024r2 for Ash would be OK.
Given TT is hopefully over his issues that made him think it was OK to do what got him in trouble with the police, why does he need to leave North anyway?
What chance is there he is at North in 2024?

Well he's contracted until the end of next year.
And after his delayed start, he's been playing well this year until the last game.
Honestly, I dunno. Wouldn't be that surprised if he made a move to Sydney or the Gold Coast.
His brother is out Blacktown way, I think.

I would think best to avoid gold coast.

Why, are they having cap trouble or unable to sign their youngsters otherwise? That's the only reason the Bowes deal happened. If it doesn't apply here, they'll just eat his salary.
Correct. Club officials have repeatedly said the cap is now under control. It's only one year, and if Himmelberg does exercise his free agency, there's definitely no $ problems, and the competition for his spot is also gone (with a couple of younger players in the wings). He's 7th for marks per game this season, despite being subbed out injured twice (once almost at the start) and subbed in for a third game, so he's back in form after getting over last year's health problems.
