Re: NIck stevens retires

Good Luck Stevo! Thanks for the memories, for a bloke who wanted to go to The Filth but ended up with us you trully showed you were a Blue Boy all along.

There is ways to express your opinion Ratten7 without berating someone after he has retired. As i mentioned earlier i never liked him either but he deserves kudos for the games he played with us and commitment he showed.

I just wish he applied himself more as i think he had so much potential that was not reached. He is liked by a lot of CFC fans and avid posters here and i respect that but he was Meh to me.

This would of released a lot of the Salary Cap with Fev going to and lets move forward putting new contracts in front of our young Guns i.e Murph , Gibbs,Kruez, Robbo, Yarran , Joseph and keep them as 1 club players and keep the Gold Coast at bay. Exciting times ahead. :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Re: NIck stevens retires

Say what you want about him but he had classy disposal, one of the few in our team, and most of all gave us some hope when he came across in 2004.

Genuine hope.

The clouds were shifting and at a time there he was the only classy player we had in the middle. It was good to watch him play and the load he has had to carry in the tough years with just young kids around him has been enormous.

Then of course the injury and the comeback, very gutsy.

We've all flogged him at one time or another but make no mistake, he has given us so much in such dark times.

Have a good one after your retirement Stevo, thanks and good luck :thumbsu:. A shame you won't be around to fully appreciate the good times.

Re: NIck stevens retires

Speak for yourselves. I wont comment on his Cartlon career but he probably got all the success he deserved from our perspective.
A shame didn't Stevens get to play for a club with an Enviable Tradition at the highest level until he came home.

First Stevens, then Burgoyne.

Not Viable Tradition would have been a better username.

Re: NIck stevens retires

Like many on here, I will always love him for being one of the only reasons to keep watching throughout the unmentionable period.

Sad that a combination of injuries and other fitness related problems caught up with him, but I have never subscribed to the theory that he didn't give it his all. He might not have been the inside hard nut some of you wanted, but he was a brilliant footballer in his prime and deserves to be remembered as such.

Good luck to him.

You had to go and mention it!

I hope the neck doesn't trouble him too much in later life.
I didn't like all of his attributes as a player but he battled pretty hard through our dark years and there wasn't too many helpers. Best wishes

Now his retired good onya Stevens for the 100+ games he can be in the real world and drink beers beers beers the way man was created just like the rest of us.

We should come up with a name for it that glosses over the reality but is convenient for us all to use. Like Nth Ireland and "the troubles".
I'd like to consider it siesta, where the whole place shut down and we went to sleep for a while. Now .. doesn't ... that ..... seem ...... lovely .... YAAAAWWWWNNN.
