massively different, Hinkley is a flog that has a team that could go all the way if it weren't for his disastrous coaching, Nicks, doesn't have the cattle, no matter what he does they are goin nowhere
Midfield of Rozee, Butters and JHF vs Dawson, Rankine and Soligo (we've closed the gap this year but you guys are still stronger). Defense of Hinge, Butts, Worrell, MM and Murray/Keane vs BZT, Ratugolea, Jones, Houston and Burton (clearly we are stronger). Forward of Fogarty, Thilthrope, Welsh and Rachele/Pedlar vs Marshall, Georgiades, DBJ, Lord and Rioli (clearly we are stronger but not as much as the defense). You have us on the ruck department but Soldo isn't hardly Gawn quality.

Lose like that after last week immediately before the bye.

Coach killer in the purest sense of the word.

He was the right man at the right time to steady the ship post Pyke.

His time is gone

Was he? Did he? We're worse now than before he arrived. So we convinced a couple of young blokes to sign on to multi year contracts. Hooray.

I think all the culture crap is deflections, propaganda and cope to distract from the fact that the Adelaide Football Corporation is an unsuccessful joke.

I've read this a number of times but what evidence is there that he's actually achieved anything in this space that any other coach couldn't have?

To be fair on Nicks, the mantra was for him to be a players coach and build culture. A lot of players were moved on and a rebuild reluctantly happened. Which he achieved to the point that we have some exciting talent on the list.

I do think other coaches would have done better in the win loss ratio. Nicks is a favourites coach like Sanderson. So naturally he alienates players who fall out of favour. For those asking about evidence, Crouch was dropped after a 42 possession game and dispatched permanently to the Sanfl with no idea why he was dropped or what he had to work on. He only made it back into the side after Nicks car crashed the Essendon game. Then he realised what he had in Crouch all along. Not a sign of a coach on top of things is it? But he was allowed to get away with it.

The Adelaide media royally screwed up here. They not only accepted the rebuild but they accepted this garbage we were playing inexperienced teenagers for way too long. So much so, dingus Olsen peddled it out again in the press conference.

I was initially happy Olsen became president but sadly, he has really shit the bed over seeing the club through this period.

How much of this problem is Matthew Nick's fault, and how much is the god awful list he inherited with the majority of the list from 2020 (25/43) still at the club today? We have an awfully shallow list and it gets shallower every year, we had very few injuries last year, and Rankine, Dawson, and Tex all played their best but apart from maybe 5-8 players it is a very average list. I'm not sure it's entirely Nick's fault.

He keeps selecting horrible players so some of it is his blame.

Yes I don't like how the "he did a good job at the time" is just taken as a given by some people around here. What did he actually do? He won a spoon and then failed a rebuild. Great job arseh*le.

I have been a solid Nicks supporter, has done a great job digging us out of the hole we were in. But starting to wonder if his message is being lost on the boys, don't want to go down the Hinkley / Beveridge path

I accepted it, and everyone did based on last years "nearly won 4 games more than we actually did and that would have put us in the top 4 maybe, kinda almost".

Also looking at the list, expecting natural improvement from about 15 or so of the younger brigade, and really only expecting drop offs from Tex, Sloane and Smith, based on age. Big years from Hinge and Milera, Keays playing not-in-the-midfield, and that expecting to continue.

Hell, all we were really worried about was defence being suspect.

AND we got Curtin. And there's 5 or so blokes untried, who all seem promising.

We should have been on the up, given all of that.

WHAT THE **** HAPPENED

I'm so sick of these takes.

He keeps selecting the bottom 5 players on the list in the team every week, when there is no need to. If your going to pump endless games into McHenry and Murphy, you make the list and team look worse than it is.

I think you guys should go after Josh Carr.
Much like Malcolm Blight - Carr wouldn't care about upsetting the Crows boys club and would be able to make the ruthless decisions required.
