Don't disagree but we'll only be replacing one Nicks with another Nicks to fill the role.
The idea that we'll go out there and bring in a coach who is going to shake it up and build from there is fantasy stuff.
Why do other clubs get decades in AFL people as head of football, why do other clubs get former senior coaches as assistant coaches. Alright, it's hard to get them here, but what are we doing? Why would anyone with career ambition come here?
So we sack Nicks, the next guy will inherit his entire football department and we'll all hold out hope that we'll "give him a year to figure out what he needs then make the changes" and it never happens.
It took a whole major external review just to get the few changes we did get.

midfields win premierships and it aint ever going to happen under Hinkley, defence ok, attack not good, but comes down to gameplan, but seriously what does Nicks actually have to work with? Easy to blame the coach, but what does he really have? Tex is out and the team crumbles, that really says it all. Recruitment has a lot to answer for.

Not saying it's a great side at Adelaide just saying you're dreaming of you think ports is a premiership squad.
Port in same position with overrated side albeit with a good midfield.
I'm not sure you're defence is even ok. Lachie Jones and Burton are terrible. BZT is undersized and not good, Rat and Aliir can't defend one on one.

Agree, not with Hinkley in charge. We are a lot further forward than Adelaide right now, buy hey that doesn't make either of us feel any better right now. There is no premiership cup coming to SA anytime soon. Sadly.

"We're all in this together" breeds nothing but unaccountability, everyone should be held accountable in their positions whether it be the coach, recruitment manager hell even the bloody physio! Sure you play for your mates but hell make them accountable.

Nicksy lost me here, any list with Laird, Smith, Burgess, Murphy, McHenry and all on the same park is straight up naivety, you're in the cross-hairs now mate, make some changes before you lose the confidence of the most integral part of the football club... us.... the supporters!

It is an interesting one . I do think he is on the outer but he may also just ride off into the sunset
After the last 2 years he may decide the Adelaide spotlight burns a bit too bright
On his qualifications I think he would be ok.
Fagan has been handed a great list. Nicks was given a bag of dog shit.
I've read this a number of times but what evidence is there that he's actually achieved anything in this space that any other coach couldn't have?
Decent forward line, shocking midfield and an average defense. Teams with decent midfields steamroll us apart from port power (est 1997)
This is the biggest issue. We have like half a dozen guys who are worth persisting with, the rest you could take or leave
Then you add the worst coaching staff in the league on top of this and it's a wonder we've won any games at all.

Ports big problem is when their midfield can't have it all their own way, they can't protect their defence and their defence folds like a deck of cards and they can't score enough to cover it. Its always the same v the stronger sides with them and thats why they are not winning a flag anytime soon.
With us when we have all our cattle, our defence is getting there and our forward line can post scores..its the midfield that is a way off it and now we have a coah thats losing the playing group fast and has no discernable game plan. We are way off it right now
Nicks has literally instilled a culture of mediocrity where results and outcome don't matter, only the appearance of effort.
This promotes guys like Murphy.and Keays as leaders and you know he was doing his damnedest to get McHenry into that leadership group, because that's the epitome of the Nicks philosophy.
You put the effort in, the result takes care of itself.
So simple minded and shows no sophistication or insight into the game.
There's smart effort and there's dumb effort and Nicks can't tell the difference. He gets seduced by the arm waving dumb effort and thinks the guys who reserve the effort for when it really matters are not trying.
McHenry is a classic case of dumb effort and Rankine is a classic case of smart effort.
With someone so under qualified and sprouting this kindergarten crap, is anyone really surprised we are back where we started?

we might not have a great list but that doesn’t mean Nicks can coach, he makes way too many rookie errors and poor decisions. They all have to go
