Hopefully we get some cool launch games.

Mario Kart, and maybe a Zelda remaster or something would be nice.
It's Nintendo. You'll pay and you'll pay next gen prices too.

Yep, If it comes with new Mario Kart.

I have the feeling it might be 8 Deluxe repackaged again with some new races. Art style and graphics didn’t even change from those clips, despite the better hardware.

You normally notice the jump from 64 to DD, Wii/7 to 8 etc.

But we will see I guess.

The characters look different, it’s a new game

I think it will be closer to $800. I would guess $750 and be happy with anything less than that.

Yep Nintendo, I'd expect small loss on hardware and launch titles to still be launch RRP 15 years into cycle to recoup hardware losses.

I thought it looked different, A lot of the 'leaks' over the last 2 years indicated it would be a new MK game so fingers crossed.

Anyway poor form from Nintendo not clarifying this already.

Anyone got the Mario kart DLc tracks is it worth it?

I can pay $30 bucks and get the DLC, Sega Mega Drive and N64 expansion pack.

The one thing I’ve found is it’s very hard to play the old Mario’s or Donkey Kong after playing the new ones with crisp graphics.

I found the DLC tracks just as enjoyable as the main game. There’s some new ones and not just old tracks returning which is good.

Didn’t care much for the added characters.

$700 is a bit ouchy for something that will supposedly be PS4 level power with 1080p to 4k DLSS upscaling etc

But Nintendo be Nintendo. It was only a few years ago friends of my missus bought the OG Switch new for nearly $700 (not even OLED). Thankfully got mine a couple years ago for around $320, think refurbished, but I often buy that way (my last two phones were refurbished and discounted) cos I'm that frugal.

I'm still in a mental battle whether to get the Switch 2, especially with some of corporate Nintendo's antics leaving a bad taste in my mouth, but I suspect if the price was right I'll lose that battle lol.

Oh yeah and if it had Metroid Prime 4...

I'm a lifelong Nintendo fan, I'll always get their hardware. But yeah - you can't release a family friendly console with premium hardware prices and not be close to an equivalent in specs.

Their IP is great but when 90% of playable titles are close to shovelware because multiplatform titles on other systems aren't playable or massively downgraded - cant really expect a family that wouldn't get a system otherwise - close to 1000 bucks.

When handheld systems like Steam Deck, RoG Ally and Legion Go are out, they don't have big aspect that separates them from other platforms anymore.

Sadly suspect that Switch 2 specs are going to be underwhelming along with the price. Can't see it being as successful as the Switch was.

If they're going to charge close to their compatriots, hopefully that means it is a significant boost in specs.
It's a fine line. The more they invest in specs, the more it will sacrifice on battery life. Then at which point do you just get rid of the handheld concept all together and just make a console to compete spec wise.
