You don't need proof to distrust them. It's not that we're saying they're definitely lying, but there is significant reason not to take what they are saying as gospel.

Agreed.
Being an elite sports person brings fame, power and money. All generally good. But as Spidey's foster Dad said, with great power comes great responsibility. One of those responsibilities is carrying a role model tag for some sections of society. Sure, the sports person may not want that and may even thumb his/her nose at it. But to do that damages the very brand that brings in the cash that drives the whole show. Doing that puts you on the outer of the brand. Back to the VFL or equivalent for you. I guess you can enjoy your sport there without the trimmings or responsibilities.
As for Ricky, what a dick. I knew him as a teacher at Carey and could never understand how the same man put together the subsequent career he has. Costello should have made his remarks about parents whose drafted sons sign up with Nixon. Why would you and how does he do it??

I'd say maybe 30% of the posts on this thread are sympathetic to the girl and concerned for her. Some day down the track, she's going to regret the actions she made over the course of a year, before she'd even turned 18, that shaped the next 15-20 years of her life. Her name is out there. She will either have to change her name at some stage, or her life between the age of 18-35 (which invariably shape the rest of a person's life) will be marked by the past year.
I haven't read every page of this thread, but I've probably read half of them and I would say the number of people condoning the actions of Nixon would be maybe 10%, not 90%. Most people recognise that it was A) foolish as hell, and B) morally repugnant.
A mid-40s man bringing alcohol to a minor is beyond defence.
Cheating on your wife is beyond defence.
However, the level of moral repugnance pales in comparison to the level of sheer idiocy you'd need to get involved with this girl after all that's happened - and involving people that he has close working relationships with! I honestly can't imagine what he thought was going to happen. That he could have a night of fun and then it would all go away? He must think he's absolutely bulletproof.
As for the girl herself, she is making some unbelievably poor choices that are going to cause her problems for the remainder of her life. When "banging a guy that looks like Ricky Nixon" isn't even close to the top of the list of your poor choices, something is drastically wrong
Agree with all this. I'd add that it was C) professional suicide. How do you think high-profile clients like Gilbert and Riewoldt feel about this girl? Wouldn't they view Nixon's actions, by someone who is always supposed to put his clients' best interests first, as the ultimate betrayal? Surely they'd be dropping him like a hot potato and telling any mates they have in the AFL to do the same.

You can distrust people for whatever reasons you want. But it doesn't follow that Nixon's lies have any association with what anyone else has said.
Nevertheless, I take great amusement out of all this.

If they really had concerns about Nixons character they wouldnt have employed him in the first place. Its not as if he's suddenly become an undesirable character. He's always been dodgy. They would have known that and embraced it.
If they drop him now its only because he's been caught out in public and they feel obliged to distance themselves from him.

You don't think the goalposts have shifted a bit, since this would be viewed by them as a direct betrayal? These players probably don't hate anyone in the world as much as the girl right now, due to her actions against them. And their own manager is shacking up with her?!
Perhaps you should stick to the facts at hand rather than desperately hoping the attention turns to other clubs.
If he hadnt been caught in public I doubt they'd have cared what he did with his time. You reckon he wasnt involved with her well before this?

Well she seems to have pretty specific targets she isn't just throwing darts randomly at photos on the wall she is picking them off one by one like Carlos the Jackal so at the very least your statement is naive.
