Doesn't surprise me. His style of cricket is hit or miss. He's living of a few good games in last years BBL and junior reputation.

Had a teamate who played aussie championships against him and said he was an arrogant figjam who bagged all his opponents.

Certainly looks that way. Wouldn't be surprised if he isn't out of the game in another two years.

it's the most individual team sport I know of, I'm guessing baseball would be similar but all the state or grade level guys I've played with have only ever cared about themselves.

Yeah, roo has dropped off the cliff. He was always consistent and dependable, I think he's had shoulder issues, not really too sure but he was a very good bowler. Looks an absolute shadow of himself.

Poor old Siraj. Must be disappointed to not be on the ground at the end of this match. I'm sure he'd like to have still been bowling as the game comes to its climax.

Kid can bat too, peeled off a 50 in first grade on the weekend. I'm thinking the Australian selectors are pretty happy with how he's travelling.

I think he bats about 8 for University and 9 or 10 for WA, but no bunny that’s for sure.

It's a shame Ashton Agar's career never really took off.

I think he has had an unbelievable career considering he is a pretty average left arm offy.

About right, not your typical tail ender these day's. He really has a crack, talk is that he is or was a bit of a shithead or "character" but I heard Chris Matthews talking about him the other day and she only had good things to say. I'm guessing he's matured a fair bit over the last few years and there's no doubt at all that he's the most talented young offie in the country.

Averages less than 37 against us. Excellent player, brilliant human, but let's face facts. He has great figures in the 2's, when it counts (against us ie: The 1's), he's very good.

Had a fantastic series against you guys in 2015 with 2 hundreds ( at the Gabba and Perth) .Then wasn't good in 2019 in Aussie when he was crook. Only played you in 11 tests .Also, if you remember the series in NZ , they have been real green tops .Not many top order batsmen got runs

It was an amazing series by Jono. Ferociously quick with pace & swing as well.
Bowling like that as a left hanger just intimidated the English to where it looked like some just wanted to get out.
The ironic thing is that in previous series they had smashed him all over the park.
In that series he was unstoppable and yet in previous series he has admitted he was intimidated by the barmy army and put off his game.
He must of had a real change of mind and wanted proper revenge.
He had shown glimpses of it before in the odd test matches but not over a whole test series like this one. One of the great bowling series of all time. He was also no mug with the bat when he put his mind to it but probably underachieved with ball & bat over his whole career from what he was capable off. Obviously a player who played on confidence.

The conditions over the last 10 years in UK have always been trickier to bat on than most of the roads in Australia. So many people struggle against the moving ball over there. Root has played many tests in UK and even with the last 2 years and bazball having more flatter pitches Root has played the majority of his tests against the swinging ball or spin conditions in Asian countries. He hasnt performed at his best in Australia but I think that is down to good bowling attacks and being under constant pressure with the poms struggling when they are over here.
I wouldnt be surprised if he rights that next year.
Big grounds or small grounds dont bother Root as he works the ball around the field more than over it so the bigger grounds should suit him. Most of the Aussie grounds are roped of these days anyway

As soon as he comes here where the ball bounces above waist height that shot becomes a liability and he's consistently been caught in the cordon.
How well he does here will be largely influenced by how he counters the bounce.

Will be interesting to see. I don't think he will, hope he doesn't. He's been a great player, that much isn't up for debate...

He’s certainly not a death bowler. Lacks the pace and hits more of a length.

When he does get it full, it’s just ramping paradise. It’s the perfect pace to guide it over the keeper for 4.

He is a handy enough shield bowler.

Travelling sides are learning to play Optus too. Trying to score your boundaries straight and behind the wicket and consistently getting 2’s by hitting the ball to the lateral boundaries, particularly the deep boundary.
Not many guys get caught in the deep square anymore, which for years this was how the scorchers consistently took wickets late in games.

I also think Turner’s captaincy has left a bit to be desired in the past two games.
