Sad, sad day for Australian cricket. If they want to stoop to that level to win the ashes they can shove them up their arses. Lowest act I have seen in 46 ashes of watching ashes cricket. Might of won the match but lost everything else. This will haunt them for a long time just like sandpaper gate did. Win at all costs mentality. No wonder the world despises them as a team. No excuses to stoop to that level.
Would the exact same thing be considered as an equally low act by you if Bairstow had done it to an Australian batter? Perhaps a day or two earlier in the same match?

Only difference was that Marnus Labuschagne had more awareness of his surroundings than old roly-poly and stepped back in to the crease.

The reaction from England should trigger an immediate response from Australia to cecede from the British empire once and for all.

Viva republic!!!

And stop using laws as the justification. Sportsmanhip would to to withdraw the appeal which is what every other team would have done except one. Stokes himself said he would have not wanted to win that way and Cummins just sits at the interview like a stunned mullet. No wonder in the interview he was asked about underarming and mankading to win.
The Colin de Grandhomme incident proves the opposite and is enough evidence to state that as good as he might be as a player, stokes is a whiny lying hypocrite. He has become a true Englishman.

Totally different. Thats the batsmen still in process of the ball being bowled not walking up a pitch thinking the ball is dead
Then the mistake is 100% on fat boy. Take your rage out on him, not the bloke who legitimately took the bails off.

In any case, who's to say that without the self-righteous spur on that hypocritically got Stokes on his bike that England would have even come close?

By the way, when it comes to playing to the spirit of the game, do you honestly think that the current England team can stand up proud based on their record?

Glad you all like winning that way. The booing and world crickets reaction today says it all.
Only the poms are upset, and I guarantee if roles were reversed they'd have no problem with it. Check reddit and see most of the world agreeing with the wicket.

Just like the day before with Starc wicket, Aussies felt hard done by, now it's their turn. I actually dislike both of those decisions, but that's the way it goes sometimes.

And for those who keep harping on about Starc catch that was completely different. That was not about a team making a decision to win a game at all costs with no regards to the spirit of cricket or sportsmanship. With Bairstow the umpire was about to hand the cap back to the bowler and the square leg had started to walk in. Bairstow scratches the pitch and started to walk up the pitch for a chat and the stumps got thrown down. Then after a period of time to withdraw the appeal it wasnt. Think about it.
If England really thought the Starc catch was against the spirit of the game, Duckett could have walked.

They can't have it both ways. One day it's 'well, thems the rules' then the next it's 'might be the rules, but it's against the spirit of the game'.

You also need to watch the wide angle replay. Carey immediately threw the ball when he caught it and the ball was already in motion when the ump started handing the cap. Bairstow was still in his crease when Carey let go of the ball.

The only differences are:
1) Marnus didn't leave his crease,
2) Marnus continued to watch the ball,
3) Bairstow was shit and missed the stumps by a country mile.

I wouldn't call that "totally".

Mate, cricket has always been dirty. You just haven't been paying attention.

WG Grace was the biggest cheat in the game's history, but we laugh it off because he was a "gentleman". International cricket is borne out of privately-run tours where match-fixing regularly took place.

The game's "honour" has regularly been abused throughout it's history. Great example of a batter asking a fielder if he caught a contentious catch, being told yes and walking off. Another fielder said "are you sure?". The catcher laughed and said "he didn't ask me if it bounced first." The catcher was Bradman.

Jim Laker took 19 wickers on one of the worst doctored pitches in history.

Bodyline.

"Get ready for a broken ****ing arm"

Players betting against their own team in a test match.

Ball-tampering throughout the decades.

What happened last night is nothing.

Some hardcore karma biting the whinging Poms today. It's great. Stokes crapping on about the spirit of the game who was quite happy to go with Bodyline 2023 when his mob weren't up to it. Spare me.

Interesting dismissal that one. I used to be mad about cricket and was an opening batsman and you do always have to be aware what’s going on. It looks like the keeper often rolled the ball in case of the batsman being out of his crease, but this time it hit the wicket so technically it’s out. I remember once I hit the ball into a close in fieldsman who got injured, I went to see if he was ok ,left crease and keeper stumped me, appealed ,and umpire gave me out. The Captain of the other team said don’t be silly and overturned it . I think maybe we should have said that’s a warning and let him stay in. Winning teams often have a win at all cost attitude, nothing wrong with that either. Our footy club doesn’t have this currently.
