I'd say it's just a cyclical coincidental aberration.

That being said, I admit this state has little going for it. To an extent, the jibes about being a handout state are true. Something stinks around here - I think it's wonderfully pleasant to live here, but SA never seems to get momentum for anything.

Never quite understand these type of comments. What should we have here in SA that we don't?

Aside from a few bits of unique geography and landmarks, I really feel like the five major state capitals are just different sized versions of each other these days.

I think we need to slowly build up those industries of the future that the pollies keep talking about. The closure of the car industry and associated businesses will land a punch in the nuts to an economy that's already the worst in Australia. Reducing unemployment in SA is a long-term project, and a few hundred billion dollars from that nuclear dump and more affordable electricity wouldn't go astray.

Getting back to footy, you'll note that there are almost no South Australians in the national cricket sides. The Redbacks have been the worst Shield side for 20 years. Perhaps the SA sporting culture has some sort of problem. But the more likely explanation is the less dramatic one: it's just a statistical cyclical coincidence.

I'm guessing WCE's captain Shannon Hurn is considered a dud since he hasn't been mentioned?

Not that I disagree with you, but Nathan van Berlo was also a captain once. Captaincy doesn't always correlate with talent.

eh, it's been like that for a long time, since the state bank collapse at least.

it's still a pretty decent place to live.
