Not sure anybody has covered this yet but I think it's appropriate to pay tribute to the amazing career of Sam Reid.
Sam spent 4 inauspicious seasons at our club reaching just 10 AFL games. To be fair though as a young footballer he was learning to manage his Type 1 diabetes with constant blood sugar testing in game breaks. During his time with us he also had serious shoulder problems requiring surgery to repair muscle damage.
In 2012 he was traded to GWS for a 3rd round pick as their final uncontracted player.
At the end of 2013 he was actually delisted by GWS but they must have thought highly of him to appoint him in a development coaching role.
In his own words at the time he stated that his body couldn't take the demands of football any more.
In the years 2014 - 2015 he continued in that role.
Amazingly he was rookied for the 2016 season and showed enough in his 6 games to earn promotion to the senior list for 2017.
At 29 Sam has now played 89 games including every game this season and will play an important stopping role in today's GF.
His is a truly remarkable football story and what ever we think of GWS as a team I for one wish him all the best.

A truly great footy story. I hope it’s rounded off by being on the end of a 60 point loss today.

I think Richmond's selection of Mar-whatever Pickett for his debut game smells of desperation. They don't think they can win without some kind of miracle.

Ok, I will rephrase it. Richmond are concerned enough about the threat presented by GWS that they've turned to thinking outside of the square with their selections.

That would be amateurish. I’m tipping they’ve picked him because they think having him in the side gives them a better chance of winning over having any of the other VFL players who were avail for selection.

I hate GWS but I would love to see tigers fans reactions if Giants win.
I hope that on or before the siren (if it's going that way) there is an immediate and rapid mass departure from the G, leaving only the dozen Scum supporters plus corporate ring-ins to watch the presentations, to the accompaniment of the AFL's applause tape.

That is a distinct possibility. If the Tiges are getting slammed and the game looks out of reach by 3/4 time, it could get embarrassing for the AFL.

"
Shocked Tigers fans crying in the stands. Could be worse.

Plastics win and nobody will give a toss by sunset, so everyone’s a winner (except Richmond).

You're kidding aren't ya? It will be all over the media for weeks if waste of space win! Not to mention the lame headlines: "Greene dream kills Tige's", "Giant boost for AFL" blah blah blah

Good for football......

Dunno about football. Good for business though.

And it'll be painful for all us non-GWS supporters in Canberra.
Fortunately the Raiders are in the NRL GF so that's taking up the front and back pages at the moment.

Marlion Pickett's selection actually hints at more forward time for Dustin Martin and maybe a concern over the
De Boer tag, Pickett is 27 years old and can seriously football I hope he Norms up.
