Pretty funny reading the Saints board. Talking like losses are an aberration. I’d argue them winning games should be considered the exception to the rule. Talking up blokes as superstars that nobody else has ever heard of. Can’t stand them. Had that good patch a few years back with a team built from high draft picks after consecutive bottom finishes. Hope North beat them next week because the Saints fans aren’t just expecting to win, they’re expecting to whack them.

Where are those St Kilda supporters on this site from a fair while back that were talking their club up to be the one to break into the upper echelon of big clubs and zoom past 70,000 members? Their crowd last night didn’t really show that.

Saints supporters booing when a freekick goes the other way and Bronx cheering when they get one.

Trouble is, they've had the rub

Saints getting a decent run from the umpires tonight.

Wonder what that whining pissant Plugger35 thinks of it.

I find it funny how when teams have been crap for so long, their base suddenly become really full of themselves after one good season, or a handful of good games. Humility these days seems a thing of the past. Haven't won anything yet.

I've told Plugger35 before - with no response, but 1966 GF:
Free kicks were 39-26 Saints way - in a 1 point game. They were gifted the only flag they've ever won.

I also mentioned we won our first 12 years earlier - and only 29 years after joining the VFL.
Always been happy to see them lose - or draw then lose - GFs. The Riewoldt flop, and that idiot Leach who is a radio has-been and now pretends to be a soccer commentator to hide his Saints following, certainly cemented in my mind how I feel about that club.

Really poor turnout for the Saints, and there seemed to be a few Port fans there judging by the noise.
Still confused at how they ended up with more members than us and hit 50k first, despite not making finals and us being competitive. After tailing us for awhile.

I vaguely remember us being with similar membership numbers to the Demons and Roos (and Saints), for many years, sometimes even more than them. Before the Roos and Demons had rallies for members in the late 2000s-early 2010s (Stynes and relocation rumors I think both were?). To suddenly break away from us by a few thousand, and left us well behind on the membership table compared to the rest of the Vic clubs. From 3rd-4th least, to the least in Vic, behind three teams that have spent large chunks of time being stuck at the bottom of the ladder.

I had a look. Saints are only <5000 ahead of us so far this year. Last year they reached 60,000. I haven’t checked their membership reports but I’d bet that our revenue for last year was higher than theirs despite having 10,000 less “members”.

I could be wrong, but membership totals seldom reflect in crowd numbers. I think we do pretty well there.

Honestly, can't these clubs who play music see they are putting 1/4 of their TV audience off watching? 50% don't like the playing of music at all and half the 50% that don't mind it hate the sone. I've had to turn Brisbane game off!

Giants have stuck around longer than I thought they would've. Both teams have pretty substantial injury lists but without Sam Taylor, GWS's defense looks very weak.

I suspect they gained more followers with the high ladder success in the Riewoldt days.

Have a few famous supporters like warnie and Eric banna

Also a trendy suburb so I know a few interstaters who cottoned onto them when they moved to Melbourne.

When we made the trade everyone anticipated it was a pick in the 14-18 range. What has changed?

The guy was out of contract and we had zero leverage other than sending him to the PSD and getting nothing.
Yep. Everyone is pretty much expecting another lions season of going well and choking up finals.

A few got excited when they were 1 win from 3 though.
