Hes dumb as a box of gravel. A couple of minutes ago he was running the case for Saints supporters moaning about getting a raw deal from the umps. The problem with this is that not a minute before the free kick count was on the screen showing an 18 to 10 advantage in favour of the Saints.
He also said a Powell Pepper kick along the ground clearly going for his team-mate that took a 90 degree turn was insufficient attempt

As a player he was an all time favourite of mine.

As a commentator he makes me want to hack my ears of with a rusty spoon and stuff them into my ear canals.

Cordy had a promising first few games with the Saints. But has been barely involved lately. Only the one kick in almost 3/4 of the game today, before getting subbed out.

Cos' Saints fans are campaigners?

Whatever any other less plausible explanation is, its very weird.

Not to defend Saints fans per se (I don‘t like them either) but it’s not just them who’ve been booing him.

I seriously don’t get it.

I‘ve seen JHF interviewed and he seems as harmless and as vanilla as any other player going around.

Leaving Norf? Leaving aside my loathing for Norf for the moment, what’s the issue? There have been other draftees, including number one picks, who have left only after a year and i don’t recall any of them being booed by fans across the league.

Some of it is purely due to Hinkley, Gil and others coming out and condemning it - the old lame-o “Hey, we’ve been asked not to do something so let’s go do it anyway - **** authority man!“

But the fact that it even started is still baffling to me.

Why and how does Zaine keep getting a game. He is slow, not particularly strong, not particularly tall, and not particularly skilled. What does he offer?

He gives effort and all of the Saints talls are out. He just gets subbed out at three quarter time every game and then Owens relief rucks for the rest of the game. King gets back around the bye and Caminiti has another week suspension so I doubt Cordy lasts much longer. Hayes would be ahead of him too but think he’s out for the year.

A little unfair unless you’re drawing those conclusions from watching him at the stadium. He’s basically been tasked with being a nuisance. Saints’ results say he’s been part of a successful system. I think he’s doing his bit. Kicked straight when he’s had the chance too.

I have no idea why I’m going for Port here. I f*****g hate the club. Something about Saints being the real deal doesn’t sit right.

I alternate between hating the Saints and also hoping they break their drought.

I know Saints fans IRL who are great people, have stuck by them through awful times and lots of heartbreak, and would dearly love for them to see a premiership.

But then, they also have other awful fans, Ross Lyon is a campaigner, and their entire club culture over the years has generally been sleazy and kind of awful.

Collingwood started the booing, not sure why the reasons were. Pies fans seemed to hate him last year because North kept on saying he was better than Daicos. Everyone else seems to be following for god knows what reason. He was getting booed against us too so can’t give too much crap to other teams. I imagine it’ll stop at some point soon but it is one of the stranger things that’s happening. He doesn’t seem to phased about it.

I don’t like when players leave straight away, I feel like its a national comp and you have to be prepared to play interstate if you’re going to nominate. He’s not the first and won’t be the last so have no ill will to him personally. I do feel like North deserved to lose him though, he might’ve left anyway but the fact that they wanted to blame all their issues last season on an 18 year old kid was perplexing.

Im not even sure that the Norf justification explains it either.

It was pretty clear from day one that if they drafted him that he was going to leave at the first opportunity. Because they are a basket case they did nothing much to encourage him to stay beyond hoping that he would buy into their myth of shinboner spirit. However, it can be argued that their actual treatment of an 18year old far from home only made his decision to leave that much easier.

Ive said many times that I find the pantomime of booing ex-players to be pure cringe. When a team without an obvious dog in the fight does the same, it just beggars belief. Thats why my hypothesis about Saints supporters generally being campaigners is most likely the correct one.

Anyways. I like him, he has a bit of Adam Cooney about him.

The throws been absolutely on display tonight, wonder if people are paying attention, but nah we’re the only ones…
Nah, that was last weeks talking point.

God only knows what outrage the mob will go with next week. Whatever it is its likely to be something equally as asinine.

There goes 9/9 this weekend. Had not realised Port's record at Marvel and against the Saints until after the game started. Didn't do my homework.

I also agree (again, independent of my hatred of Norf - if you can believe that!) that Norf’s vindictiveness towards him for leaving has been embarrassing.

I can understand them being unhappy about him leaving but the whole carrying on like he is the devil incarnate, missing ice baths and not being professional, that typical Norf faux tough guy Zurhaar’s Instagram posts - it’s all just cringe.

As you say, Norf have been rubbish for a while, so it’s not that hard to understand him wanting out.

Good call on the Cooney comparison too.

Watching Roaming Brian (yeah it’s a quiet night), there were two girls in the room with ESPN as interns, one very much looked like Eleanor Brown, not that BT would know her, did anyone else see that and can confirm?
