I really dont get what Mitchell has done. I understand a focus on youth but that needs to be balanced with effective mentorship, and people who set the standard on and off the field for the younger players.

Who do they have now who can do it? I just cant see it.

Ross has a habit of getting the best of the list he has, the problem is that he destroys the confidence of that list and his tactical approach aligns to a dour recruitment strategy. After five years he's cooked the club.

I would say one of the reasons st kilda is so vanilla now STILL is Ross.

Reckon he gets them to the finals two years running and then grinding down steady.

Yeah you're right. He does get the best out for a window well. Not strong on the development or long term club building.

I just don't see their list as anywhere close to the 00's or early 10s for him to work with. Riewolt, Goddard, Dal Santo, Montagna etc. Anyone remember G-Train?

There's a school of thought that they're clearing the decks and hitting the draft over the next couple of years. With a view towards a time when all clubs are going to have to deal with a series of compromised drafts and the best kids in the land will be shuffled off to the AFL latest boondoggle in Tasmania.

There's another school of through that the Family club have always been pretty ruthless in their treatment of their employees. It's not something that they've restricted to their indigenous players. Its just that they've been pretty clever at the PR side of the game and couched these decisions in the veneer of just letting players go to further their careers elsewhere.

Stupidly wandered over to the MB, have avoided it much of this year, only to see Geelong supporters gloating about Selwood‘s finals record against other teams and calling other teams inferior.

I think Richmond were the worst Premiers because there was so many of them, and they kept bringing up Richmond in every topic, but Cats are the most arrogant.

Look I didn’t see much evidence of it. I know I took a North supporter to task as his last post was something along the lines “do you have any premiership/supporters players alive, how pathetic we are” etc. but I think it is in bad taste to be bad winners.
