Another one or two teams, the overall quality of this league will decrease further.

Not enough top flight quality players and umpires to support the current 18 teams.

Then again, the AFL is an entertainment TV league and people are still watching these games anyway.

8.11.59 scored between 6 teams in first quarters today. Weirdly slow starts.

The quality of the league isn't the players. Australia's population is projected to increase by almost 8 million people in the next 20 years. Based on that alone, we are likely to see a massive influx of quality amongst the playing group. I wouldn't be worried about that.

Im more worried about the over saturation of coaches all looking to justify their paycheque and the negative influences that has on the way the game is played.

This new HTB rule is a stinking pile!!!!

I don't know whats so hard about it to be honest. Holding the ball should be one of the easiest decisions to make.

I for one think they should pay it more. Reward the tackle, ease the congestion around the ball. As soon as a player gets tackled and they don't get rid of it straight away penalise them.

Things I think should be holding the ball.

1. Players spinning 360 breaking a tackle. Sorry, you've been caught. Holding the ball. The minute you are spun more than 180 degrees, done.
2. All attempted skill errors like dropping the ball trying to dispose of the ball should be penalised. No question.
3. As far as I am concerned a tackle should only have to last a couple of seconds, not turn into a wwe wrestling match before a decision is reached. HTB.

Sorry, the AFL trying to reward the player going for the ball is whats creating the inconsistency. Anyone who has played the game, including coaches, would love to see the basic tackle rewarded.

Sucks supporting us at the moment, but the positive is we are not St Kilda fans.
What a rabble of a club, with a horrible style of footy
