It would be useful for people watching electronically--the great majority.
The fact is that commentators don't call games any more. They tell viewers what the sides need to do to win the game outright barrack for their favourites and let us know how they went in particular games yonks ago and how their best mate went. The AFL commentary is useless to people that don't know the great majority of players on opposition sides.
Names on jumpers would be a great help.

On SM-A115F using BigFooty.com mobile app

So the AFL need to cater for lazy people who dont know players and dont know how to operate an app yet somehow these same lazy people are going to focus in on small print and try and decipher a name out of it.

Just because you don’t agree with the reason or you didn’t read it, doesn’t mean we haven’t given you reasons.
It gives a simple quick help to some who maybe don’t remember numbers and names associations and who wants to be buried in a phone looking it up regularly.
Plus there’s no down side.

afl app does exactly that. lol. Yes the jumpers look ugly. The plainer the jumper the better it is.

Why does it upset you so much? Stop calling people lazy.
It doesn’t affect you so don’t let it bother you.
Why do company’s sponsor guernseys if people can’t read them?
You realise the game is televised and cameras have zoom?

I know we beat Carlton but have they been this shit all year?

Talent pool is soooooo diluted.
They had a good six weeks but their last month has been poor.

Sydney, Brisbane, GWS, Dogs and Freo are all better. I'd say the Hawks as well, but they're coming from too far back. They'll hit a wall either in the finals or just before

Soccer jerseys and basketball singlets are also more socially acceptable casual wear, walking advertising. How many people wear AFL Guernseys publically when not going to a game or footy training?

If you go to Colonnades, Marion, West Lakes, Arndale, Elizabeth, Rundle Mall, Tea Tree plaza on a weekend they'll be dozens of basketball and soccer jerseys but won't see any AFL Guernseys only club polo shirts or t-shirts

You arent covered in sponsor logos. NBL teams arent worn but NBA teams are. Thats because all american sports dont allow sponsors on jumpers its just a Chicago Bulls top and Jordan and his number for example. You arent advertising freds sports store. Even in Soccer, they are allowed one sponsor on the front, nothing on the back. But have you seen people wear ugly big sponsor logo tops or just the smaller deliberately plain logos like Fly Emerites that blends into the gurnsey.

There is socially accepted wear but not as much as you think. Ive lived in Portugal and travelled Europe and i have hardly seen anyone wear soccer jerseys. Kids these days wear designer stuff. Well here they do.

I would also suggest its the tank top style that promoted the NBA tops being worn in hot weather. Soccer jerseys are worn because they act like a T shirt. AFL jerseys are sleeveless shirts and arent really fashionable in that manner. Names are meaningless to whether its worn or not.

You are the one calling people lazy just by default. By suggesting they cant look on their phones or ask a mate. The only conclusion is you are saying todays generation is spectacularly lazy, so lazy they cant do what people have done for 150 years. OMG how did I ever manage knowing the names of every player on my team. lol

Sorry missed your last point.

Companies design specific logos that are heavily designed by a marketing team for the express purpose of sponsorship and all the clubs marketing consists of that logo everywhere. A player with a long name is what, expected to barstadise it and shorten it like they do in some sports. E.g. Jason Horne-Francis. What is he expected to Just be H-Francis while players with the last names such as Drew, Smith and Walker get their full names up in lights. Georgiadis? Its great if its uniformity but names all vary in size and why should some players have to miss out just for Susan who doesnt know shit about the game and so she can see Smith on the back of a gurnsey then ask, what his first name? haha, which defeats the whole ****ing purpose.
