A man has been charged after allegedly throwing a bottle at a goal umpire during an AFL match in Melbourne over the weekend.
Umpire Steven Piperno was replaced halfway through the second quarter of a clash between Carlton and St Kilda at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on Sunday after a bottle was thrown at his head.

The umpire had to be replaced after suffering a cut to the head.

Piperno suffered a cut from the incident, with Carlton officials reporting the bottle was thrown from a bay of seats near the Carlton cheer squad, according to the AAP.

Victoria Police have now charged a 23-year-old Northcote man with recklessly cause injury, discharge a missile and unlawful assault following the alleged incident.

The 23-year-old has been bailed and is set to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on November 1.

I'll get flamed but for someone having a lovely leg he sure misses a lot of targets.

Is it gameplan? Players running to the wrong spots? Poor connection between the mids and forwards?

Or is his accuracy by foot over rated.
That's only since he's largely played inside mid and no doubt the fatigue that is brought on by crashing and bashing in the contest. Ideally that kind of bullocking should be left to inside mid specialists like Crouch and Berry to feed it out to the outside and Jordan Dawson and players of his ilk.

So Barrass to the Hawks. As he has 3 years left on the contract, is VC, and one of their top 4 players, 2 first rounders?
Hard one I reckon, but doubt it's 2 first rounders. About to turn 29. More of an intercept defender than a premium lock down key defender. But quality key position players are extremely hard to pry out of opposition clubs. Hawks first and something else to go with it ???

Even at this stage, Richmond are going to suck for the next few years. Guaranteed bottom next year.
Stock piling on picks in a strong draft before Tassie enters and compromises it is smart management. They will struggle to win many games for the next 2-3 years (except against us probably) but should be playing finals again by 2028.

Now’s the time to do it though with Tassie coming in and this years draft quality.

as reported probably

Picks
1 their own
6 from Rioli
9 and
10 for Bolton
12 for Baker

Smack this years draft.

After a week in the abyss. I'm back. Copped my first ban for counting to 5 on the Port Power board. I actually didn't know how it worked. Soft, toothless campaigners. Would reccomend.

Does being able to count to 5 offend them?

Should we be looking to trade pick 4 for richmonds f1 if they were open to it...likely to be pick 1 you would think and thats Dyson Sharp from SA...but its a risk that richmond don't finish bottom or Sharp does not come on in his draft year, but the kid has had huge wraps and that could get him next year

Yup...15 on the ladder doesn't demand prime time.
I'm clearing my Sunday afternoon calendar now😜😜

... ready for the Cairns/Darwin/Hobart/Ballarat/Canberra trips😒

Well at least you can get decent frequent flyer points. 🤣🤣

The good thing is we didn’t actually stink in our prime time games so we might still jag a few. We were competitive.

It's because we use him incorrectly. We tried to see if he could become Bont. He can't. His body wears down after a while and he struggles.
Dawson's best position by far is as outside receiver. He should play half back/wing, with the occasional burst on ball when needed.
Think of the way Hawthorn used S Burgoyne.
Dawson will be a much more damaging player that way.

VFL will love this - big supporter base non-vic team, playing and (mostly) losing to Vic teams in prime time.

I was watching Gerrard and the drunk last night and Slobbo was going on about the Owies suspension and came out with the line "it wasn't a concussion so it shouldn't be a suspension, just a fine.

I still wonder how the Macadam suspension was every reconciled in their pea brains
Wiped it never to be thought of again.
