The name is a Tassie thing, is it worse than Claude "Curls" Crow? The Devil mascot actually looks good in the flesh ... the fur is made from cut up Tassie School Uniforms from around the state.

This sort of thing will upset some other clubs ... don't remember which team, but one of the current AFL teams references a year don't they?

<EDIT> Mascot names are not a high bar ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mascot_Manor

That's creepy AF.

“Archer approached the contest with excessive speed”.

Don't run to the ball too fast, guys.
Which would have been fine and he would have got a free, if he got to the contest at the same time.

You wonder if some of these non-impact type injuries are partly to do with cumulative damage.

As in, these blokes are pushing their bodies so hard, day in, day out, maybe at some point it just goes “snap”.
The answer is complicated as to why fatigue results in increased incidence of ACL injuries. It's multifactorial, loss of neuromuscular control, altered gait load, increased lactic acid levels etc all play a part.

That Tassie mascot is truly horrible. One of the worst mascots I've ever seen. Can you imagine Mums wanting to buy a smaller version of that for their kids? Gross!

I think you may have underestimated how much Tasmanians adore Tassie Devils. The more horrible it looks, the better.

The player couldn’t evade because he went to ground.

Archer had 1 second to stop at that stage.

Are we actually trying to argue that you can’t sprint to a contest now? FMD

Assume he stayed on his feet - you don’t tackle front on at full speed. Why don’t these issues happen a few times every week? Because 99.9% of the time players are smarter.
It’s a bit like the dump or sling tackles. There are 1-2 reports each week on average out of 700 plus tackles across the round
