Local Australian musicians have been left furious to discover American pop star Katy Perry is being paid millions to perform the AFL Grand Final.www.dailymail.co.uk
Ended up being a 20 min gig and more than 5 songs.
Was very similar to her 2014 Superbowl gig with songs in the same order.

Just checked the Brisbane BF Board - thinking it would be going off ... 20 pages in the GF game-day thread, 3 pages in the GF Review thread.
We have someone spot an out of contract player order the wrong coffee at the Henley Beach Cafe and it's 50 pages an hour!!!
Must be nice to have so well rounded a life, bless those Queenslanders and their simple ways

In my Belgian hotel room many years ago, I randomly turned on the TV, only to see AFL with an overdubbed Belgian commentator getting extremely excited about Gary Ablett's performance.

Nah - I really don't think I would be.
I can turn on the TV late at night in a foreign country and find sports like Darts, Hurling & women volleyball. Doesn't mean it has real viewership.
Well that settles it. Finding it in a hotel in Belgium at 7:00am means the world has fallen in love with AFL.

The only thing is now the whole make the top 8 and anything can happen narrative will continue when we were just starting to move on from the Bulldogs in 2016.
It was a fairly unique set of circumstances. Brisbane should never have finished 5th. It was a very even year where anyone could beat anyone. Normally the top 4 has a couple of teams who are clearly better than the rest.
They beat Geelong away but were fortunate that they got a non Victorian team on Grand Final Day who didn't get tested in the Prelim.
A very worthy winner but I still think top 4 is where you need to be.

Do you know who Katy Perry is? I do find it amusing the way people effectively barrack for their little Aussie band. We've had very few worthy of playing our GF. Unfortunately one of them would be Kylie Minogue, luckily she doesn't have the playlist. Your little band has a proportionately very strong following in the US, but is otherwise an international nobody when compared to someone like Katy Perry. It's ok, it doesn't mean they're not good or you shouldn't enjoy their music. The only Katy Perry song I know is the one that features in The Interview. And I missed the AFL pre-game, so didn't get to recognise any others.

My wife who is very much into music and finds some of Katy’s music ok said her new album is utter trash.
Hoods aren't, they've got quite the following in the US
The others are just good local bands.
He's not wrong though, they're a blip on the radar outside of our shores.
As good as they are.
The response to her new album was brutal. Not only was it apparently very bad, she teamed up with a producer who has been accused of drugging and raping another artist.
Weird thing about Perry is she sold her catalogue for 225 million dollars a while back. Why isn't she relaxing on a beach somewhere?
