And right on cue:

Port win the offseason again apparently.

The players they drafted in look decent.

Still, Houston is a 2x AA and one of their best 3 or 4 players. We saw how his absence cost them in finals.

the whitlock boys look like they need several solid preseasons in the weight room. This draft died off in quality pretty quickly imo and getting players in the 30s and 40s is a lottery. Hey they may find 3 superstars. I dont think they got anything better than they already have.

lol, it died off quickly? That’s pretty much the opposite of what happened

How many of the new draftees are set to make an impact in 2025?

Most of them need multiple years in the weight room / learning what it means to play against AFL quality.

Maybe what 5 or 6 will be noteworthy next year? Most of these showing a glimpse of what is to come more than actually helping their team make / win finals (which is all that matters really).

There's top level draftees that went to bottom clubs like Lalor - FOS - Draper ... they are pushing it uphill in 2025. Richmond are bottom couple for another year at least. I think North will improve a decent amount, and pray we do too. So maybe FOS and Draper can make a difference - but North is a tougher midfield to get into than ours!

Mid-level teams like Saints / Bulldogs / Hawks / Paer - really only see Tauru as slotting into the first 22 - pOwEr, Bulldogs and Hawks had pretty down-the-list picks.

So what about Jagga Smith / Ashcroft? Who are they pushing out of their teams in the midfield? Potential is there I guess.

Reality is that most young players don't do that much in their first year - a combination of how much they have to learn and the team they are playing in.

Someone will jump up, I'm sure - but it will be highlighted because it is the exception that proves the rule.

Bottom line Port weakened their best 23 for next season like we did for this season.

Fortunately we strengthened our best 23 for next season.

Powell-Pepper will be a big in for their forward line. I don't mind the look of the best 23. I don't think they will win the flag but they should be around the mark again.

Like us I think they should of cut harder this off season. Next year Boak, Atkins and Finlayson will all go. Maybe Marshall due to concussion and Soldo will look to get out again.

I also think Bergmann will look to go back to Victoria.

I can see Harris Andrews and Sam Taylor breaking the intercept marks record when they play Port.

(I'm sure Tom Stewart holds the top five places from games against us)

Very, very early days but Berry looks good, but kind of says they don't have a lot of faith in their 2023 picks, Charleson and Anastopoulos. Whitlock and Moraes were both expected to go much higher by many so they may be lucky there. Clearly Whitlock needs 2 years in a gym though. Moraes is a basketball convert and his kicking needs a lot of work, as does his ability to run 2 ways. Their rookie /NGA picks are pretty " speculative" to say the least.

When SA's Charlie Nicholls turns into the next Pavlich taken the pick after Port's where they selected a Victorian Twin will be a bit amusing particularly if the twin runs off home

If Jack is remotely good you don't think a big Vic club is gonna offer a million bucks straight up? Look how desperate Essendon and Collingwood are for a big forward.
Of course they will.

Clubs have offered a few of their players a lot of money and not many leave.

If he's any good, Port are SUPER desperate for a gun KPF and will match any offer.

When you're a bball convert
and your kicking needs work

Thats a Moraes

When your form starts to dip
and your draft ranking slips

Thats a Moraes
