Cracked rib for Butters
I cracked two ribs playing once (20 years ago), didn't know until a few hours after the game when it started hurting like hell.
Missed a week, then played the next. 30 seconds in some clown dropped a knee directly on the cracked ribs. Genuinely couldn't have hit them more perfectly.
They still hurt...

The Youtube channels Green Dot Aviation and Mentour Pilot gave me a new appreciation for what goes into making aviation safe. The engineering and training involved is crazy. That said, I think the Australian industry gets many of its problems from being a market of 'only' 27 million people spread across an area the size of the contiguous United States.

Now that I have gold membership, my plan for when the day finally comes and the Crows make a grand final is to drive there the day before.
We will be able to teleport there.....

So to confirm, draft order is based on the ladder position after R24 to break ties?

Geelong and Port both eliminated this week. Geelong were effectively the better team (having won their Qualifying final), but if my maths are correct Port still technically come "third" and get the lower draft pick?

No. Geelong were the higher ranked team going into the PFs, and will have finished 3rd.

The final ladder is:
1/2 - Sydney/Brisbane (TBD)
3 - Geelong
4 - Port Adelaide
5 - GWS
6 - Hawthorn
7 - Western Bulldogs
8 - Carlton

The final ladder position, as used to determine the draft order, includes the results of finals - it's not frozen at the end of the H&A season.

No, as both lost in the same weekend it is based on their ladder position at the end of the minor round (the qualify result is irrelevant).

Port finish 3rd
Geelong finish 4th

Look at where the two teams are listed in the second round and in first round Geelong are 15th (means they finished 4th).

For confirmation -

Good on Lairdy for spreading his wings and taking up umpiring basketball.

He gave the new guy (Harrell) at the 36ers a warning "if you interact with the crowd I will deem it a technical foul".

Harrell has played over 500 games in the NBA before joining the 36ers this season, he had never received a warning for interacting with the crowd. He was flummoxed after the warning.

Laird said after the game "this is not the type of behaviour we want to see from basketballers".

Rumours of Caro and Hutchy also heading to Channel 7 too, probably gonna ruffle a few feathers over there and Darcy is the first domino to fall

Good thing Foxtel will have their own commentators next year for all football games. Don’t need to worry about C7.

From what I've seen, it was believed from many media types that channel 9's interest in AFL related broadcasting was in serious decline. Seems like these guys are jumping off a sinking ship. I hadn't heard the rumour that Caro and Hutchy were channel 7 bound though, so thanks.

I had to watch the Port v Swans prelim on Channel 7 as I was at a mate's place. How does anyone put up with that with all the ads. That alone is enough of a reason to get Foxtel or Kayo. Drove me mad.

Heard on the radio today that GFG is losing 100’s of millions of $ at the Whyalla steel works and haven’t been paying millions in mining royalties to the state government. Seems being associated with the 🍐 is a recipe for bankruptcy.

I suspect they might go the way of MyATM…

Port fans combine Hinkley's poor finals coaching with their lacklustre list outside the midfield and blame all of that on Hinkley

The evidence seen across his career so far suggests he lacks the last 10-20% needed to go from a good H&A coach, to a premiership winning coach

But he's not an awful coach. To reach finals consistently on the level Port have done requires a reasonable coach. There are several seasons I'd even say they've performed above expectations given their list.
The hatred of Ken Hinkley from Port Adelaide fans is a bit excessive.

Lack of grand finals aside.... 4 preliminary finals under Hinkley and his 12 year period as Port Adelaide coach isn't bad.

I am a dockers fan and Freo from 1995 until 2024 has only seen 3 preliminary finals (2006, 2013 and 2015) in their 30 year history.

I would love Justin Longmuir to achieve similar finals success like Ken Hinkley.

He's their version of Neil Craig, a very good home and away coach, but doesn't have the strategic tools and feel to be successful in the last fortnight of a season. Dixon being selected is a perfect example, he's cooked and he will cost them dearly on rebound. But he coaches for the average, in finals you need to coach against your opponents as well. He doesn't do that and nor did Craig. Focussing on executing your game plan only gets you so far at the pointy end of the season.
I do remember Neil Craig and his coaching stint at the crows from mid 2004 until mid 2011 very well.

He got the crows to finals every year from 2005 until 2009.

Most of that era was decent and could and should be looked back fondly.

Essentially.... Neil Craigs crows of 2005-6 was when the crows should of won a flag, especially 2006.

That 2005-6 crows side had a very good backline, excellent midfield but an average forward line.

Its similar to Freo under Ross Lyon in 2013-5.

Think about this:

In 2024 there will be a guaranteed non-Victorian premier. It will be the first non-Victorian premier in 6 years and only the third in the last 18 years.

There are 10 Victorian clubs and 8 non-Victorian. Says a lot.
I had a convo with an eagles fan about the Vic bias thread.

Start of the finals series I always predicted 2 non Vic sides in the granny.

I originally thought it was gonna be Port vs one of the NSW sides.

Ended up being Sydney vs Brisbane. I am happy with either outcome.

But I said this.... It's like a 6 year view. I posted this on the west coast board.

2006: eagles vs Sydney
2012: Sydney vs hawks
2018: eagles vs magpies
2024: Brisbane vs Sydney
2030: ??? Maybe eagles vs a non Vic side.

Saying that, since 2000 we could of added more non Vic vs non Vic sides in grand finals, had certain non Vic sides won their prelim finals.

2002: Brisbane vs Crows
2003: Brisbane vs port
2012 : Sydney vs Adelaide
2014: Sydney vs Port
2015: West coast vs Freo
2016 : Sydney vs GWS
2017: Adelaide vs GWS
2020: Port vs Brisbane
2022: Sydney vs Brisbane

Point is, I am keen on Tassie getting in and a 20th side to make it 10 non Vic sides.
