This gives off Weird Al vibes.
It’s an absolute crime!!!You'll cry when you see what Nickelodeon has done to Thomas the Tank Engine.
There are some things about American sport that are way better like umpiring and commentating. What you want to avoid are all the commercial elements of American sport. The constant ads, the ads built into the telecast, the way they'll cut to a long break when there's like 2 mins left in the period. The way they'll turn 60 minutes of sport into a 3 hour ordeal. It's awful.
Is he admitting that Cotchin shouldn't have played if it actually went by previous AFL rulings that year?

My 5yo tells me whether he wants to watch 'real Thomas' or 'fake Thomas' lol. It’s an absolute crime!!!
I always thought with reasonable confidence it was Tim Minchin until a Google journey turned up nothing. This gives off Weird Al vibes.
The Melbourne Cup winning jockey today is a man of many talents! Was also on The Voice a few years ago and has a seriously good singing voice tbh.

I should have mentioned that comment was mostly about hockey. I don't watch a lot of baseball. I've spent more time watching docos and movies about baseball than actually watching the real thing.Umpiring? Maybe replays are better but the umpiring still sucks in a lot of American professional sport.
Look up “Umpire Auditor” to see how bad the choices of umpires for the World Series was - and how bad some of them are at their job.
Let’s Go Dodgers!!
As for being worried that we're becoming too "Americanised", the reality is we're in a much more globalised world than when we were kids. The internet is largely to blame for that, kids are just exposed to more things than whatever Australian media was around when we were young. As far as I'm concerned, that's a good thing. And it's not just one way traffic - I assure you, plenty of US kids are adopting various Australian sayings, practices and traditions courtesy of Bluey taking over the world
Halloween isn't strictly American - but the practice of dressing up in costume & walking around the neighbourhood begging for sugary treats (trick or treat) most certainly is. It's this practice which many find objectionable, and an unwelcome intrusion of American culture into Australia (and elsewhere).
it’s been a longtime celebration for Australians of Scottish/Celtic descent descent (not meaning fans of that distasteful Irish Catholic Glasgow football team).
It’s all associated with the harvest, end of summer, ghosts of the dead walking among us on the night of 31 Oct, with big bonfires to scare away evil spirits.

100%NHL is my favourite sport.
It’s a perfect balance of power, skill and toughness. Three brutal periods of 20 minutes where being on the ice for 3 minutes straight gets the players to the point of exhaustion. The whole squad needs to perform, nowhere to hide. Absolute international player lists. No draws, always a result. Fixture / Finals structure is logical and fair.
The umpiring is next level - mainly helped out by the rules and the “code” of hire you should play the game - but that is changing a little with some players exaggerating high stick contact to get penalties. (Sound familiar)
Go Rangers!
