Wasn't it that we guaranteed he'd make sponsorship income targets - which eh made anyway?

I'll die on the hill that if this happened at Collingwood, it would have died as a story by the end of the first week.
Hang on, this literally did happen with Collingwood.

Everyone with any contacts into the AFL knows that Collingwood were in breach of the salary cap and that's why they got rid of Treloar so abruptly and cheaply. The head honchos of AFL knew and contacted Collingwood and told them to fix it(salary cap). Never even got out as a story. That's because if it did get out, Collingwood get draft pick penalties and guess who's coming up father son for them in a few years? Nick Daicos. Imagine how furious Collingwood supporters would've been, and Daicos himself, if they weren't able to get him and he was forced to go elsewhere or delay the start of his career.

So we lost 2 years of Draft picks and Collingwood's punishment is they have to have Daicos on their list, seems fair.

They still would have access to Daicos as he is a father son, they just would have had to trade someone out to get the capital to still select him. They made the call early and chose Treloar.... Instead of keep Treloar copping the draft penalties and then having to trade away someone else instead.

Tippett's Dad and manager being complete pricks screwed us over as well, we could have just accepted Jesse White and pick 23, the fans rightfully would have been pissed but the draft sanctions we got were worse than we ever imagined in the end.

How accurate is this? I can not imagine the other clubs knowing it and saying nothing, reckon there’s a bit of Carmo mayo being applied here

I know I'm getting sucked into your bait, but what we did with Tippett - where we didn't even go over the cap, and where we said if he was unhappy we'd trade him to a club of his choice at the end of his contract - was incredibly minor compared to things that don't even get punished. The stuff with Scott was brazen.

I'm minimising it, but it's crazy that our punishment was the same as what Essendon got for a systematic drug program.

We never challenged anything, which an actual big club would have. Our crimes were far less worse than our amateur hour way we handled everything.

Anyway, I haven't thought about that for years, so thanks for that.
Really? Jenny usually manages to slip in once or twice a year how trigg is still innocent 😃

I kinda agree with your point that we might have fought a better fight, probably couldn't have been handled worse or more selfishly, and also set up worse by putting it on paper, but at the same time once that was done you're underplaying that a second contract was signed and he was given effective FA status, which was flat out cheating. Geelong haven't done anything like this

No it's not!

Again you have misrepresented my post & doubled down.

Go back to Tippett-gate thread & I was scathing of the club & wanted Trigg & others sacked.
Okay well to me saying Geelong "got away with far, far, far more" does imply either we weren't so bad or Geelong have done something to the level of breaking the rules like we did, but if you think not fine 😃

I don't know what Geelong have done apart from this chris Scott thing which they're trying their luck with in the open, all the rest seems like innuendo and it does seem that players like dangerfield were happy to take unders to go there, but who knows I'm sure plenty goes on

I have no problem with the AFL warning clubs they are about to go over the cap and to savagely cut

What's your version then?
Why did Collingwood get rid of Treloar so abruptly and cheaply?

Why would the clubs say anything? Would've brought the wrath of the AFL if you did. Would they do that? You always say the leaders of our club are just weak. What about other boards, what do they think of their leaders, weak too?

Did the interstate clubs fight very hard to stop having the grandfinal at the MCG which gives an obvious advantage to vic teams and not their own clubs? Never even gave a whimper.

For once there's a case to be made for weak leadership for our club (and others) and youre all out there defending them. Look at you go.

Well it’s just an unsubstantiated rumor at this stage.
You don’t think the media would be all over it if there was any sniff of truth?

Should they have had access though? If you get two years of draft penalties meaning no first round and second round picks for those two years and you have a father son coming along who's a first round pick in those two years should you still get him?
Are you even being punished if you can just get him anyway?

What would've been reasonable is to still allow the father son to be picked but not be able to play games until the year the penalties ended.

So it’s just another nutty Carmo theory then.

Pies knowing they were going be in strife with the 2021 salary cap and doing something about it in 2020 is far different to being in breach in 2020 and the AFL doing them any favours.

In hate it when conspiracy theorists state their speculations as fact and then use it to paint so-and-so as the devil, sowing hatred and discontent to further their agenda, what ever it is. No wonder social media gets such a bad wrap. Now if you had any actual evidence for your accusations I'll take it all back.

The media were pretty much all over the Magpies disastrous salary cap, when they got rid of Stephenson and Treloar for pennies on the dollar.

That being said, they were suspiciously lax on any discussion of how long it had been going on and whether they consciously went over the cap
