Yeah but Rowell is good.

Didn't see them coming for Crouch either time, he would have cost them nothing but they will go for Rowell and cough up a first and some...

Matt’s not an inside bull though, he’s an inside accumulator. Bulls bash through with acceleration and body mass, Crouch gets and stands still. Nothing against that if he’s releasing players, but he’s about the furthest thing from a bull there is.

Matt Rowell was the number one pick in the 2019 draft. Has anyone ever suggested that there isn't a role for him in today's AFL? I'm not sure who you're directing that comment at.
And wht is he other than an inside bull?

Ha, maybe.

I'm probably out of watching the AFL if they don't pay market rates.

They’re a great organisation, they do well in every aspect. Funny though, mcguane had cats midfield as 8th best but the reader vote had them 18th. What’s the bet those same voters ratchet up the old Costa Living Allowance despite rating the list in the bottom half.

Remember that time Malthouse got the AFL to investigate us about Betts?
Came here to post exactly this. Old Malty had nothing more than a pocket full of sour grapes but apparently that was still enough formally to investigate us.

Geelong talking to yet another elite talent, a year ahead of his contract expiring, nah, nothing to see here. Has anyone other than us ever been been investigated?

He's just incapable of a constructive conversation when one of his favourites gets questioned

It’s pure delusion. Rowell goes at 61% contested and kicks 45% of the time. Crouch is 42% contested and kicks 34% of the time. Off 23% less disposals, Rowell gains 40% more metres. I’m not arguing quality or value to the side, but they’re just not the same type of player. Sometimes you have to wonder whether with all his junior footy commitments, Bicks has the opportunity to watch any AFL level.

Rowell 8 goals, Crouch 0.

Rowell has pace, Crouch is slow.

It’s a truly bizarre comparison to cling to to try and defend one of his boys.

It’s kind of making sense, his input is generally restricted to supporting the players that are regularly being selected. Just need to see the selected team each week to be able to offer that up as your personal assessment of individual performance.

Rowell is a high class player as well as being a very good inside mid. Quality disposal and very high footy iq.
Where did I say Crouch was on the same level as Rowell exactly?, both are inside mids that win the contested ball with ease.

Crouch's kicking efficiency is an above par 60.6% and 76.2% Disposal efficiency for a midfielder in 2024, Matt Rowell went at 50.8% kicking efficiency and 68.4% disposal efficiency in 2024.

You think Crouch doesn't have pretty good footy I.Q. as well?

So he is as good as Rowell?

No different styles but both inside mids nonetheless. What I said was Geelong and Chris Scott still see the role of an inside mid as important which several posters including Wayno especially seem to think the role has gone the way of the dodo.

It looks pretty clear Geelong are missing Joel Selwood's role in their midfield to feed the ball out to express mids like Max Holmes etc hence their interest in Rowell IMO.
