It’s pure delusion. Rowell goes at 61% contested and kicks 45% of the time. Crouch is 42% contested and kicks 34% of the time. Off 23% less disposals, Rowell gains 40% more metres. I’m not arguing quality or value to the side, but they’re just not the same type of player. Sometimes you have to wonder whether with all his junior footy commitments, Bicks has the opportunity to watch any AFL level.
It's Mutineer and Crouch. That's like footy's version of Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan.

Feel for him but it highlights we dont need to chase him now
Can I ask why not?

It's not as though it's anything like a career ending injury.

If he wanted home we'd be very foolish not to go hard IMO.

Cost for 1

Plus I think we are making headway with our midfield - I would concentrate on ruck and KPP

I agree on the ruck but if Mattaes wanted home I'd be surprised if we didn't go all in.

Are you talking KPP through trade or draft?

Whatever is available - I think St Kilda dig in if he wants to return here - and thats for either team in the state

It then escalates the capital for drafting or trading for need

I really hope Mattaes is on the list of players we are giving our strongest possible pitch to this year. Definitely making headway with our midfield but it is still our weakest line by a country mile. Ruck I agree with you. But mids and, much further back, another small forward are surely the next biggest issue.

"Noone's had a stress fracture at the AFC Matty! Get over here!"

I don't quite have the sense of humor this week to speculate how bad some of our pitches have been in the past.... but our recent form is pretty good. Whatever we told Dawson, Rankine, ANB, Cumming and Peatling seems to have been convincing.

Interesting to see how he fits in, or whether Fagan and Co have managed to create a Hawthorn type scenario where everyone stays for a bigger chance at success.
Might make Henry Smith an easier get...

I reckon it went something like:

"Here's more money than you're getting right now!"

Mattaes Phillipou 3+ months off with a femur stress fracture

No good for the lad. I thought this might have been his break out year.

Femur stress fracture...never heard of that. Any medical people care to comment on the rarity of this.

And I'll go now and amend my fantasy team...

The Cats always think big.

Geelong’s pursuit of Matt Rowell examined: How it could happen and is it possible?

Geelong is yet again in pursuit of a star rival midfielder, this time it being Matt Rowell.

Geelong has thrown its hat in the ring for Gold Coast superstar Matt Rowell but a move home to Victoria is far from a fait accompli for the former No. 1 overall pick.

In November this masthead reported Rowell had put contract talks with the Suns on-hold amid intense Victorian interest while assessing the club’s improvement following yet another failed finals push in 2024.

Dr. Google ;)doesn't seem to think it's a big deal, just rest and recuperation which probably means he won't be able to play until the back half of the season, unlikely to be at full fitnes this season but.

The AFL need to step in an make it harder for players to get back to their home state. A 10 team in Melbourne location makes it too easy for those located outside of Victoria to run back to Victoria. Where as everyone else has limited options. Its an unfair playing field. I would love to see a quota placed on Victorian teams, for example only 1 interstate recruits from any non vic clubs best 10 players or top 20 draft pick every 3 years. Which would mirror interstate levels of recruitment from Victoria and other clubs.

He won't go, because the AFL gave them Anderson to ensure he didn't leave...

We'd have to retrospectively give up McAsey
