I swear a potentially average team could win a premiership this year..shame we peaked in 2017…that team this year would walk it in. Speaking of average, my dread of the Powa sneaking a premiership grows…
Wouldn't say average.

Rather it's very open.

The Blues couldn't sack Voss.

Could they?
Pressure will be applied.

Cook tried to play down expectations this week... which was sending a message they don't expect to make finals.

Strange at this stage of the season.

Everytime the AFL pats itself on the back for its rule changes that have opened up the game and led to higher scoring, the pendulum swings back the other way
Coaches adjust quickly...

This is definitely the last time I tip Carlton until they play WCE or North.
Yeah, I went Bulldogs after being burnt by Blues too often.

Mentally weak.

To my knowledge there is no mechanism for a rebel group to challenge the board as such. Our board is endorsed/ratified by our owners The West Australian Football Commission. There are no member elected positions and members have zero say at all in how the club is run.

The only time there is “pressure” is when the money starts to dry up and at the moment, things are relatively stable, but a continuation of heavy losses will see crowds drop off more.

The issue is an unbalanced list after a long period in finals contention, some poor drafting and a bit of bad luck (some players prematurely retiring/leaving, e.g. Venables).

The major issue has been the injuries and management there of. We had a big change after last season, the preseason was excellent and we hit the season with almost a full list to pick from… Then came that one game and things have fallen apart since.

Simpson is contracted til the end of 2025 and as we are not controlled by the VFL, we would have a huge payout if we were to move him on earlier.

I think the club is ok to keep him there to cop the losses and ride out the initial rebuilding stage. We have hit the draft the last two years and some good promise from those two drafts so far. But there may be a tipping point. The major cause of angst is Trevor Nisbett. Been at the club since 1989, been CEO since 1999 after he ousted Brian Cook in acrimonious circumstances. He is digging in and not going anywhere. I think a lot of WCE supporters think a change in off field leadership is needed…

A bit (a lot!) of pain ahead before we fully turn the corner.
Thanks for that, good insights 👍

I can't see them beating Collingwood and Melbourne at the G in the finals.

Oh look it's Carlton
