Straight sets would be a massive problem for Port. They would really have to sack Hinkley but seeing how they literally extended him a month ago they couldn’t. Will be seen as one of the worst contract extensions in modern times. Why didn’t they just wait an extra month to extend?

What do you expect them to change? Going out in straights is by far the best outcome. Their preseason will be one of doubt and no matter where they are placed next year that doubt will remain.

Bedsides seeing them out in straight sets will be glorious.
Then start the 2024 season off badly and Port will cop immense heat for a mid season sacking of Ken.

A brilliant human? How so? Has always publicly seemed like a bit of a flog.

Well, publicly usually isn't reality is it? I know him, and he is a great bloke. As opposed to probably every other poster on this board who rubbishes him but has never spoken a word to him. He is lovely bloke.

If this happens, the Chairman, CEO, Board & Football Manager, all who endorsed Kenny's reappointment, would surely need to resign.

I just cant get past the collective delusion that, if they just had a decent coach, their list would make them premiership certainties. Midfield aside, which is very good, they have holes everywhere...especially in the key position stakes....
I didn't need the result of this final to understand their list is bog ordinary. I've said it for the past three years. Posted it on here over and over, but all the Port-midfield fappers are still blind to it.

They might get some better assistants, be more aggressive in trading. Actually trade in for need, not name.

A humiliation in a home Final against the 7th ranked team may make them be more critical internally.

They won't change Ken. But the bigger issue is their list. Pretty good midfield, although it is one way. Their bookends are terrible.

Straight sets is amusing, but them feeling happy internally with a Prelim appearance won't make them be so critical internally.

The club sees the noise from their supporters now as irrelevant. Lead by an anti vaxxer who is suing an ex employer for $6m. Kochie and their PR team can dismiss the current White Noise. And have.

But lose to GWS, more respected people might start making noise Koch and Cardone can't control.

Cautious optimism. They’re still in it (unfortunately). And straight sets (historically since the introduction of the current finals format) has been something of an anomaly, although it has increased in prevalence in the past 5-6 years!

They may win next week. But still, it is a very hard road to get the Grand Final from there.

They will count this season as a success regardless and when they win the trade period again, it will be much excitement amongst their media cheerleaders and those who get easily hoodwinked 😀

Is this like Rowie? I've heard the same but he is absolutely unlistenable. He is dead set in the middle of Kane Cornes territory. My very good friends have been close with Kane's family through their kids being tight and they say he is a really nice bloke - nothing like what we see publicly.

Ports whole “everyone loves each other and have crows” shtick is also their undoing.

Anyone that doesn’t clap along is outcast - see Wazza.

Best thing they could do is get rid of Chad and Bassett and put some outside voices in there who will ask how tf they expect to compete with no defenders or forwards of any note.

There was no point in waiting, even if they did wait and they went out in straight sets he was always going to get extended. Once they had the 13 game streak and locked in a top 4 spot it was a formality.

My only concern if they got a home Qualifying Final but those 4 losses to Carlton, Collingwood, Us and Geelong in a row were pivotal in that not happening.

Probably might have been the turning point in their season.

What was their winning streak? 13 games in a row - at this point seems irrelevant now.

Now if they should lose this week, does it scar the players given they bombed out in 2020 and 2021? I note some have compared this season to what happened back in 2004 (how they bombed 2001-2003) but there is no comparison, 2004 had more depth and quality compared to this side. Plus 2004 was coached by Williams, 2023 is Hinkley. Enough said.
13 in a row and 6 of them by less than 2 goals (3 under a goal) and the other by 14 points so 7 of those 13 games they won were very close.

This year has worked out perfectly. At the start of the year it seemed as though Port had to go deep into Finals for Ken to get an extension. Port go on their 13 game winning streak and it becomes clear they will finish top 4, lots of external noise and pressure to extend Ken and they pull the trigger to avoid any distraction before Finals. Then as we all could predict they fall in a heap come any pressure in Finals and they are now stuck with him for another 2 years.

Without the winning streak and top 4 finish they likely would have waited to the end of the season and he probably would have finished up this year.
And we also smashed them in both AFL and SANFL Showdowns and AFLW.

port believing they can solve their issues with bzt, statistically one of the worst 1 on 1 defenders in the comp, and essava, who makes frampton look like an expert at reading the flight of the ball, is just hilarious.
Frampton has shown more as an intercepting defender than Esava and costs a fraction of the price
