MFC Fans Only Non-Demons AFL Discussion – 2024: This year really stinks (but not as much as the Gold Coast rebrand)

The most recent idea to come up is apparently forcing Victorian clubs to play home games over there once every few years or something. With ideas like that you wonder about the people running footy clubs.
I like that they said it would have to rotate between vic clubs yearly going over there. But also no one I saw on socials is expecting Collingwood to do long stints away from the MCG

I know it's going to sound very VicBias of me, i do get the complaint of travel, i really do. But you're both expansion teams to a largely Victorian central competition, hell one of them joined when it was still called the VFL

Sure you can expect some things to change over the years, but these clubs knew what they where agreeing too when they joined or where founding. Perth in particular was and should be aware that the rest of the country is east of them

This is the point really. They want to be part of the number one competition in Australia, not being in a second tier like the WAFL.
The ramifications of joining would always be that they would have to travel regularly over to the East Coast. Who knows, perhaps they were given some assurances that a number of the Victorian base clubs would be removed from the newly formed AFL.
When West Coast joined that was around the time the AFL were trying to either merge or fold Victorian clubs.

Love saying this sort of stuff on the mainboard, triggers the shit out of all the interstate supporters. :tearsofjoy:

The West Australian Football Commission has remarkably rejected the idea of their state holding a third AFL side, as the league now looks increasingly likely to hand the Northern Territory its first team.

So yeah looks like WA wants to have their cake and eat it too.

Also a NT team would be a disaster. You'd be better off giving Ballarat a team than Darwin.

I reckon a central goldfields team shared between Ballarat/Bendigo and maybe a game or two in Castlemaine would be cool.

Would be great for the regions. Can jump on a train from Melbourne for a day/weekend out.

Call them the Gold Diggers

They don’t like being called interstate supporters. It triggers the shit out of them
The world revolves around Melbourne, they need to realise how fortunate they are to have a team to support, if it wasn't for the VFL's generosity they wouldnt.

That kind of sums up the multiple vicbias threads really

This silly little garden gnome has had as many scandals as wins coached since he took the reigns at North, lol.

Lol that's hilarious Clarkson screaming at umps like he's a disgruntled father on the sidelines of an Under 9s game. Which he's also done!

Might need to go back into the coaches box.

The wall of the MCG coaches box disagrees with that idea

Clarkeo in trouble for swearing after an umpiring decision?

Have we really turned it to this big of pussies who are offended by everything?

Absolute ****ing joke

Robbo describing it as 'the two worst words you can use' but not as a slur of any kind so I'm assuming he said hecking campaigner. Bit of a nothing-story if that's the case.

Listen i don't mean to go into bat for the 'you need to be a role model' side of things. But having seen some of the shit in juniors with coaches and parents abusing the **** out of umpires, I can understand why it's a look the AFL would not want to be seen ignoring at the top level.

That also said, it is a nothing story and is more of a disservice to be highlight these incidents sometimes. It already sounded like the AFL where looking into it. Obviously it does become a story if he's suspended from coaching which THEN becomes public interest. But seeing how it's Tom Morris who broke it, I'm hardly surprised
