Clarkeo in trouble for swearing after an umpiring decision?

Have we really turned it to this big of pussies who are offended by everything?

Absolute ****ing joke

When is this sort of thing (shouting abuse at someone) ever appropriate workplace conduct though? Can't even give Clarkson the 'white line fever' excuse that often gives players immunity.

I don't think it's really fair to compare the AFL with a normal workplace. If he actually directed it at an ump though he's ****ed up and the AFL won't take it lightly. Will be interesting whether they decide to activate his two week suspended sentence.

I don't think this is something that should worry North long term at all though.

I don't see why not, personally. I get the 'heat of the moment' stuff with players, as adrenaline is a factor. Not for coaches though, that's just a cop out.

And yes, different circumstances if he was just swearing to himself, but it sounds like it was abuse directly towards an umpire – that sort of thing doesn't really fly in any professional sport (look at some of the huge fines given to coaches in the NBA over the past couple of years).

In most workplaces you'd get sacked for speaking to your colleagues like that I don't think that really makes sense in the context of competitive sport even for a coach. If he cops a fine or has his suspension activated for calling an umpire a campaigner I'd be comfortable with that though.

Oh ffs really?

It's not a normal workplace and comparing it to one is ****ing stupid

In a normal workplace do staff members tape up a broken nose and get back out on the floor?

That doesn't wash, what workplace can you run in and knee someone in the face because there's a ball close by.

Any player on field who swears should be banned going forward as well.

Since when exactly has Clarkson the coach taped up his nose and gotten back on the floor?

Not if your argument is adrenaline or competitive based because coaches absolutely feel that pressure. That's just a pedantic argument for the sake of it.
I’ll warrant police officers fell more pressure, and for much better reasons than a score line or an umpiring decision. Paramedics? Nurses? And on and on it goes.

And any of them who are caught out abusing someone face consequences.

Since when did footy fans get so soft that they can’t cope with their hero’s being held to a general standard?

Since when is “competitive based pressure” harder to deal with than the pressures of many other work environments?

That’s not my argument and I’m not a pedant, if that is actually what you meant…

Right then obviously you think Steven May and Jake Lever should be serving multiple suspensions because of how they talk to each other and the bad examples they set, Goody should be suspended for telling Gawn to harden up that's just bullying.

I don’t think that, and you know I don’t think that, so quit with the straw man crap or take it to the AFL board where it belongs.

Then you can't use irrelevant examples like police and nurses and crack the shits when I get you in your own style.

How are they irrelevant? You talked about adrenaline and they are totally working in fields of major stress at times. And face consequences for not keeping themselves under control.

You’ve got to feel for the experienced coaches of a game who can’t stop themselves being abusive when they don’t like an umpires call though. I mean that stuff is life or death.

Tired of these people being protected as though they are infants.

Using profane language that was audible to others

So swearing is banned now?

If he just said it to himself, absolutely nothing should happen.

Coaches go into bat for their team, it's part of the job, if you want to give the umps a cook you should be able to do it if you're prepared to wear a fine.

Stop comparing everything in professional sport to amateur leagues and workplaces. Suspend or ban people who do it amateur leagues, can't fine people there and umps aren't getting paid enough there to cop that.

So do players who were given an out by Scythe94

Follow along gand

Give him 7 years that's a disgrace, might be the worst things that's ever happened in AFL history

I have no idea what scythe said about players or what you are talking about.

And if you have decided that I’m the kind of person that follows along than I don’t know where to go with that other than:

1. Yes I am offended that you believe that (which no doubt in your mind makes me a snowflake)
2. I don’t want to hear or read that crap about me again (which no doubt makes me a snowflake)
3. I am a snowflake and I’m tired of navigating this shit, and I’m cancelled.

It's their job to coach. It's not their job to be abusive.
