MFC Fans Only Non-Demons AFL Discussion – 2024: This year really stinks (but not as much as the Gold Coast rebrand)

😂😂😂 the Giants boys are ****ing hilarious

What a world where a bunch of different types of black folk can't even make fun of themselves now without more than likely some short haired white campaigner getting offended for them

Connor Idun (who has Ghanaian heritage) and Lachie Whitfield “enacted a scene from the movie Django Unchained, characterising slavery”.

The Age reported Idun sought permission before the event from teammates Toby Bedford and Harry Rowston (both are Indigenous), Leek Aleer (who has South Sudanese heritage), and Callum Brown (who has Jamaican heritage) and none said they had a problem with him wearing the Django costume.

This is satire, right?
So you're cool with making fun of sexual violence? Acting out rape scenes? Making fun of slavery? Terrorism? Ok. I've said i don't think they should be suspended, but I'm not surprised someone was offended. So my character all of a sudden is in question because I feel that way? You serious??

Did these blokes get in trouble. Was like 10 years ago.

I think they got a please explain. But cmon, times have changed. Acting out rape scenes, slavery and terrorism and making fun of it is poor taste. While I'm not offended by any of it, I can see why some people are. And I'm happy to have my character assassinated on here, that's fine, I really don't give a s*, but all I've said is I'm not surprised it's got some attention and that some comments on here are surprising. But hey, a lot of my opinions are different to most on here.

Pretending to rape a blow up doll as a bit is pretty cringe. I'd be embarrassed for someone if I saw them doing that.

The rest of it is whatever. Floor manager should have shut down the function if staff members were taking issue with it on the day.

Don't think the AFL needed to get involved here. Fining players for 'lack of leadership' is absurd and a terrible precedent.

Roosy's reaction from the time is pretty funny actually.

Roos was in no mood to give the players an excuse and said the duo was extremely embarrassed and remorseful.

"The problem with days like yesterday is they just don't think," Roos said.

"There is no malice. There is just no thought process (that) goes into it and I think that is the worst part about it."

"The reality is they dressed up in that outfit. That is the thing that worries me. You can make as many excuses as you want to make excuses, and as I said I know they're good guys, but the thought process to go in…I think there is no thought process and that is the concern," Roos said.

"The education is 'think about your actions before you actually do them, not after you do them, think about what other people are going to think about what you do'."

Stopped just short of calling them the dumbest campaigners to ever walk the planet.

I think you can find humor in anything - if you dont think they should be suspended fair enough. I think the rape thing was crude but I really don't think anyone should be giving a flying about this one, they actually did the right thing making sure teammates weren't offended as they're the only opinions that should matter.

As for the last bit of your post, please stop replying to me as if I'm posting the same things Topkent is saying.

The biggest part about this is it was done in a private room, if you can't make jokes in a private setting the **** is going on.
People do things with their wife/husband in private they wouldn't do in public, is that now a hanging offence as well?

If 4 of the senior white blokes made an 18 year old black kid dress up as Django different story, the fact they cleared it with everyone it's a complete non story.

Reports are the giants aflw team were pretty pissed at the rape jokes, ideally their opinions would be considered too imo.

Not that I really care that much about this tbh.

I have a clause in my contract to not bring shame on my company. If I broke it there would be penalties. Luckily I save all my shitty behaviour for my own home lol

They did it in a private room though that's the point, it was private. Some snitchy **** wit looked at the cameras afterwards to lag em in.

Should have just hired an Airbnb. No need to do your lines in the dunny either, always nicer from a Kmart plate.

The host would have gotten them on the hidden camera in the radio alarm clock.

Yeah, the event was held in a public space that's rented out to groups. These were planned skits. With phones etc these days, in a group situation like that you just have to treat it like a public space. This s* gets out in a number of ways in todays world. I mean the whole rape thing is just fn disturbing. A few of the GWS women players have been very outspoken about it offending them. Fair enough too. I don't know how anyone can find rape funny at all. Bizarre that some on here do. A few of the planned skits are truly wtf were they thinking things. Disappointing s* still goes on like this by grown men. Not surprised the leaders have been pulled up here.

All the black people are cool with the slavery scene from a movie being acted out.

Random white guy from big footy
'Im offended'
