He tested positive so he about as much say in copping it on the chin as your average pr0n star. He and the club have also kept this quiet for 6 months and have only really come forward once people starting asking questions about why he wasn't playing in NAB cup games

I do have some sympathy for him because if he's telling the truth he's more guilty of stupidity than cheating but just like Saad a positive test = stuffed, like proper stuffed so he doesn't get to drag it out
The dockers only found out this week Crowley was allowed to keep it quiet .
I agree that a match day positive has him screwed but with 30 odd blokes getting injected 6 times a week for months looking like getting off it feels like he is pretty hard done by .
Pain killers with codeine only allow Crowley relief from pain . He may not have even used them on game day . No higher level of performance is gained .
Bit like benny cuz yes it was wrong but its not like he was gaining an advantage like the bombers

I don't understand the first sentence - they've kept it quiet for 6 months but only found out this week they were allowed to and then tell everyone anyway?

Essendon is completely different as there were no positive tests although what they're accused of doing is a whole different level of ****ed up and it will be a travesty if they do get away with taking banned substances with a slap on the wrist, or possibly no penalty at all if the evidence is insufficient

Bottom line for Crowley though is he tested positive to a banned substance and as it stands we have only his word that he took one painkiller (fwiw I believe him at this point) - the drug code is brutally harsh because if we took every athlete on face value with their excuses for testing positive no one would ever get banned. Like Saad he's unlucky but only has his own stupidity to blame

The difference with the bombers players is they thought their club doctor was on board. My personal view is Hird and the club hold more responsibility than the players for that saga and the lost draft picks and being kicked out of the finals has definitely hurt them. I still think their loss of picks was light when compared to what happened to Adelaide for having 1 side deal with Tippet (if it's only one).

Yes the players could have looked into it further themselves but I think a lot of players would have done the same in the circumstances.

Feelin' fine.

Because he's received a SCN, means that it wasn't a recreational drug that he tested positive to on game day ?

You can get a SCN for testing positive to a recreational drug on gameday. In this case it was allegedly a painkiller, so it wasn't a recreational drug in any case,

Incidentally is now the second Fremantle player to fail a drug test after Steven Koops. Koops failed his test a day after having knee injury so was eventually cleared, Freo were fined $5K for not informing the AFL about the surgery.

Sounds like a long and shameful history of drug use at that club to me.
