Imagine the outcry from the clubs and the media and the AFL if it was WC or Adelaide pillaging Geelong or a Melbourne club the way Geelong has pillaged GC.

Clubs were positioning themselves to join the VFL so the WAFL stepped in to put in a conglomerate team and retain some sort of control

It’s a shame WA and SA didn’t hold their nerve to force the formation of a proper national comp

Ultimately the Crows were formed for the same reason because Port were attempting to go it alone.
