? Hawks are severely lacking in KPP and their midfield is like ours - a bunch of young kids showing promise but will need a few years before they can consistently perform. They haven't played finals since 2018 and stuffed up their first go at a rebuild. I have us ahead of them as we have better KPP stocks and they take the longest to develop.

Hawks despite being shit are the number 1 clearance side in the league. With our current midfield outs unless they completely butcher the ball and we perform above our best their strength is our biggest weakness.

I fully expect us to lose to the hawks and not by just a few points either.

In Tassie as well...😞

Here's what will happen, per Truckodamus:

1. The AFL, after a lengthy sweep- uhh, investigation, will find no evidence to support the specific allegations and clear all involved.
2. However, Hawthorn will be penalised their first round pick and the two parties still involved in the AFL will be fined due to some nice, generic misconduct charge.
3. The fines will be completely suspended, provided no one gets pressured into an abortion for 12 months, and Hawthorn will be given a first round priority pick, justified by their sustained poor performance after * checks notes * one and a half seasons.
4. West Coast will win the spoon but only get pick 2.
5. Media will praise the AFL for the way everything was handled and stress what a comprehensive investigation they heard it was from someone anonymous at AFLHQ. They will never mention it again as they quickly pivot to a drummed up on field controversy. The AFL will assist by changing the rules.

A shame we played North in the first week, when they had full of youthful run and eagerness to play well for their new coach.

We'll finish above both them and Hawthorn at the very least imo.
like gold coast last year

Seems highly plausible

Does Grays Sports Almanac also say when we'll next play finals?

I reckon 2026 but we'll be very close in 2025

Don’t laugh briztoon - Brisbane will still be hoping Hipwood and Daniher find some consistency in 2026

Lot of water to go under the bridge but 2026 isn’t silly to be thinking a return to finals is possible

I worked in Geelong in the building trade and all the trade places support Geelong, not surprisingly.
And may I say they support with great enthusiasm. Geelong is a very one team town.
I imagine there are a number of wealthy local business owners who are also Cats fans and do this stuff for the players. It provides plausible deniability as the club isn't officially involved, but wouldn't be trying to stop it either.

I don't know why we're not able to do the same given our dominance of Perth and the resources wealth sloshing around the city.

I don't wish injuries on many players (Barry Hall, you were an exception. As were you hayden B) And I certainly have no animosity to G.
But if this is an injury that ends our interest in him and prevents us from chasing him I will
1. Have sympathy for the player,
2. Be happy that it has resulted in us dropping the chase.

To be honest looking at the way the games change over the years. I'm looking at the rise of St Kilda they have pretty much no key position forwards. Most of the Saints side is basically hard runners throughout.

Maybe that's the best way to rebuild and adapt with the current flow of the game. Not focus so much on Key forwards and focus more on athletic skillful runners through the midfield and the forwardline. Hawks are basically going down the same path as the Saints.

I think now more then ever KPF are becoming less relevant and don't actually make a huge difference these days. Saints right now are the example of that and where the game is headed.

We should be taking notes and look into our own club. Does Darling right now really provide much of an asset. We have three talls in the forward half. Darling Allen and Waterman.
Is that detrimental to the way the games being played now.

Let’s just say I agree with WCE_phil timeline for the Eagles improvement.

I think we need a bigger sample size to see just how good the Saints are. It's possible they've only played one finalists and got beaten (pies). Looks to me like they'll finish in the bottom of the 8.

I don't think they will win the flag but their only loss was by a goal and they could've snatched it.
Beaten Essendon and the Bulldogs who I think will play finals.

All of this with a long injury list has been pretty impressive.
