They haven’t traded out of the next two drafts.

They traded out of last year’s draft and this year’s draft.

They still hold every one of their own picks in next year’s draft, the same as every other club does.

They do have quite a few older players with trade value, let’s wait and see who they trade to Gold Coast for what picks.
Fair enough.

Their list is going the same way as our though, it appears from afar.

Also, not really sure GC will want any of their brigade, they look pretty stacked, just need to find some consistency.

Ryan Buckland had some good takes but he also talks a lot of shit. West Coast is not going to trade Simmo for a coach who is failing his second crack at it (Voss). Ryan's question contains the answer to why it won't happen - Simmo would crush it with Carlton's list because he's the better coach.

Sure, Simmo could make his own decision to walk, but we wouldn't be picking up Vossy.

What he was implying (due to journalistic pressure on Adam Simpson) is that Voss would achieve no more than Simmo at West Coast but Simmo would have the Blues balls deep in finals contention if he was in Voss' seat.

Simmo's better off going to North than Carlton.

Carlton has the same issues as North in terms of the balance of players on the list (too many contested players). North are just much younger and can rectify their lack of outside class much more easily given relative ladder position.

Gaff to Carlton then? Lol

Because I’m in a pissy mood and just made the mistake of watching a video of Paul Haselby on CH10 raving about Freo being back in contention after a couple of wins. I looked at their results so far

R1 : L to St Kilda away 52-67
R2 : L to North home 72-73
R3 : W over WCE home 108-67
R4 : L to Adelaide away 72-111
R5 : W over Gold Coast GR 100-90
R6 : L to Bulldogs home 69-118
R7 : L to Brisbane away 67-115
R8 : W over Hawthorn home 117-48
R9 : W over Sydney away 103-86
R10 : W over Geelong home 106-77

Three of their wins (WCE, Sydney, Geelong) have been against sides below full strength. A win over Hawthorn at home and Gold Coast who stopped

Good sides in good health (Adelaide, Bulldogs, Brisbane) they’ve been spanked

And now they get Melbourne without Oliver

It’s nice to see false hope. Hope they get crushed

How do they plan on doing that, after trading out of the next 2 drafts for Taranto/Hopper, because they didn't know where they were at?

When they truly hit rock-bottom, they'll be drafting during the Tassie compromised drafts.

Thanks Captain hindsight

That was last off season and were well within reason to have another dip at a flag. Other clubs such as Hawthorn and Geelong have done this with success.

But as soon as the writing was on the wall, they knew when to quit. Meanwhile, we’ve been in denial for 3 years

Struggled to put Geelong away too, despite looking comfortably the better side. I reckon their best is good enough to have them in the finals mix but not convinced they can deliver it every week

So ... We could hire like 10 CEOs and they all just happen to be doctors specialising in sports injuries etc? :moustache:

We could hire 10 sub board members who all had specific specialisations. It would be dodgy as hell but it could actually work. You get caught out though with those people providing assistance to footballers and the AFL would come down on the club like a brick shithouse.

Also worth mentioning that Witts was unavailable for God Coast v Freo. If he plays he at the very least nullifies Darcy.

I am staggered, some creative management on BF. An 'advisory role' to paid staff would be a legitimate directors role?

The issue is you get caught and you probably lose first and second round draft picks for 2 years. Particularly as a big club where the AFL knows the club can handle being down the bottom for a decade.
