Port are having a year like us in 2018.

Just getting the job done.

Reckon they can win it if they get past their Sep. yips.

Nah, our wins in 2018 were quite convincing and we won 10 in a row. Port have won 8 in a row and the majority of those have been by less than 2 goals. Could easily have 4 more losses and 4 less wins.

I think they'll finish top 4 and be found out when the real stuff happens. Just like in 2020 and 2021.

Seriously what handouts?

They got a future second and third round picks they had to trade.

Can’t think of any other handouts.

Maybe he is referring to all the financial assistance, or to all the succession of low picks, not sure, but they have certainly had long enough to lift themselves off the bottom.

Painful to imagine how much financial assistance they've received over the years

The reason why we have a soft cap, and a reluctance for the AwFL raise the soft cap is due to the inability of beggar clubs like norf be financially independent.

Given Norfs 6 goal to 2 final quarter it appears as though our abbatoir slop bucket of a percentage is going to be insurmountable. We're going to need to win 2 more games than Norf between now and the end of the year to avoid the spoon.

The current soft cap is due to the AFL overdraft left over from Covid. It was one of the Covid cut backs.

And if you’re going to blame any team for the soft cap figure the AFL settled on, blame Brisbane, because pre-covid, we were operating well under the soft cap with the lowest spend, and the AFL told all the clubs if we can operate at that figure, then all the clubs can.

Then the AFL went and cut an extra million off that figure, and even the Lions had to cut some off field staff.

So because of the beggar clubs like he said
