That’s just crap from the Dogs fans.

Their season’s just about gone now and they’d be hurting after that loss, last thing they need is to be verbally abused like that over the fence in front of kids. Have some perspective
This is what makes me seethe with the Victorian narrative that Perth has rough crowds. The Eagles members never abuse their team like that, the worst they cop is dissatisfied murmuring and fans leaving early.

Blues, Dogs and Tigers fans have been filmed openly abusing their players after bad losses over the years. That is far worse than anything a Perth crowd has done.

I am regularly in the stands at Optus and MCG/Marvel/Kardinia Park Games over the years.

The narrative of wa crowds and fans being “ferals” and “bogans” (“BoOoOoO”) is incredibly rich coming out of Victoria

Any chance Geelong cops some flack for one of the worst premiership defences in the modern era? They have now officially missed finals and never seemed to get going this year. Their future looks bleak, with a bunch of aging players and not much youth.
Think they knew last year was the last crack at it and went all-in. Their efforts at the start and end of the year to me showed a team that was missing and is now looking forward to the summer break

Hi Guys, I watched the game and thought the Dogs, with all that they had to play for… and on their home turf, would come over the top. But the Eagles showed great heart to win for their coach, themselves, and their supporters.

Instilling a winning culture into the players after some horrid losses cannot be underestimated.

But there is always that sinking feeling … that the AFL draft system has created… “would it have been better if we fought well but lost”.

In my opinion the AFL must change the draft system for the top 10 positions in the draft to a weighted lottery. The team finishing last would still have the highest chance to get pick 1, but it would not being certain. Under such a system a team can win and still get the first pick.

If anyone is interested in the maths I’ll post it.

No supporter should feel like it is better that their team loses. The AFL has created a system that makes many of us feel that and it should be changed.

Rant over… Oscar Allen is awesome. Tim Kelly likewise. And a little shout-out to 18 year old Ryan Maric… he did his role well when he was at Box Hill and is doing it as an Eagle.

IMO it is difficult to cast dispersions on a club that has been in 18 of the last 20 finals series with 4 premierships and 2 runners up. Agreed they have finally fallen off the cliff after squeezing out every last ounce from their talent.

They are part of the three most successful clubs since the Eagles joined the competition: those being the Eagles, Cats and Hawks. Credit given where credit is due.

I see no need for flack. Just a golf clap 👏 and some relief that the Cats will probably have a few years in our current teams position = low on the ladder… and that we both will likely be higher on the ladder than the Cats in the coming years.

Jeez, Bev is copping some flack over on the Bullies board, they want him gone.

Hard to gauge him as a coach, with the Bulldogs it always seems to be boom or bust with how they play.

Very Jekyl and Hyde team, and the fact they rarely get a top 4 finish under him reflects it.

When it does go well though and clicks, he's capable of taking them through to a grand final as we've seen.

Bulldogs 17 and Richmond 21 weren't great either.

That list should be top four most seasons. It's one of the top four midfields in the league easily. For the second season in a row they're putting their finals hopes in the hands of Carlton. He really has to go even if they finish eighth.

Their midfield is way too dependent on Tom Liberatore in there doing the grunt work for the rest of them.

Not surprising last week the game shifted vs the Hawks when he went off concussed, and this week they got made to look second rate by our shit show of a midfield when he missed again.

English is massively soft as a ruckman as well.

Hardwick the new Gold Coast coach on a 6 year contract. Yes, 6 years for a coach that was so burnt out 2 months ago he walked away from a job he was contracted for until 2024

Wonder if there’s a 6 month payout clause in his contract

Lost the players.

I suspect there will be a few trade requests. And we should keep an eye on any potential players for cheap.

Just realised that Freo played and lost yesterday, very little coverage of that after our win.

Nonetheless I see it's another week where Luke Jackson isn't a "generational unicorn". I'm sure when he pops up for his one good game every 5 the narrative will come back.

I seriously doubt Hardwick would sign on with that clause attached.

Cats are where we were in 2021 when we missed the finals. They won’t cop criticism now it will come in future years as they fall off the cliff like the Eagles and before us Hawthorn did.

Some will say the Cats won’t fall away because they can attract players easily but that advantage will be lessened now they are no longer in a premiership window.

Not sure of the current points of it, but if they finish bottom 4 it will mean they would have paid more for Jackson than we did for Kelly.

Plus it cost them Acres, Logue, Tucker and Lobb from their playing depth to accommodate his big contract.

There was a distinct chance Swans may also have missed - only an umpires call in it really.

I cannot imagine many years when both grand finalists from previous years missed but……it was touch and go there for a while.

Throw Norfs interchange fiasco into the mixer and we’d have both eliminated from race in the year after.

Agree - tbh I think it’s an indictment on the tall big bodied inside mid model. Bont is phenomenally good, but he’s not someone burrowing into packs and digging (or throwing in Libba’s case) the ball. He’s clearly very adept at winning contested footy, but he’s not in and under. Same with Cripps - these guys are too tall to be on the ground all the time.

Ahhhh not sure if you're aware, but Bont is currently fourth in clearances per game. Cripps is currently 7th in clearances per game....
