Adelaide robbed but as the coach said they lost the game in quarter 1 & 2 .....But very average decision in the last minute of the game , bizarre and costly for Crows and Saints have to fight their spot in the eight .
Hoping Hawks beat Melbourne allowing Carlton a chance on top 4 !!

Retired North Melbourne great Jack Ziebell was involved in an incident last night outside The Osborne Bar in South Yarra.

He was coward punched in an unprovoked attack and is currently in hospital. He will likely need facial surgery. Details on #CrunchTime at 11am. @1116sen
Horrible news... Hope the bloke is alright.

There’s been some genuine howlers from umpires across the season. Last nights was the biggest and has without question impacted the result of a game

And last week we had the Jeremy Cameron goal after he received a hand pass a metre or more over the boundary line

The four umpire system hasn’t worked and it’s actually made things worse

Goal line technology is farcical

s**t like this happens when you’ve got one CEO doing a totally unnecessary farewell tour while his replacement *s about in the background biding his time to fully take on the role. Meanwhile, Brad Scott leaves his post in the AFL to coach and nearly a year on hasn’t been replaced

Travis Auld has left. No replacement

There’s no CBA for next season and beyond still with the trade period just 2 months away. Clubs trying to get deals sorted for existing players or to attract players not knowing how much they can spend

The salary cap for this year hasn’t actually been formally set, it’s just an estimate with players to receive back pay once it’s determined

AFLW only received their fixture recently for a season that starts in 2 weeks. They also don’t have a pay deal finalised either

They’re a ******* shambles at the moment

For what is claimed to be Australia’s number one winter sport ( might have made that up) head office is lamentable.

Luckily they’re not managing a multi-million dollar industry.

Decision-making has (IMO) been reactionary rather than strategic for a long time.

Listening to SEN & apparently at a press conference this morning he's said the goal umpire has been stood down for the rest of the season.
Thats all well and good buy why couldn't the onfield umps recall it and take it upstairs for review ??

Mistakes happen they are only human use all tools available to make the correct decision or help you make that decision ?

Onfield ump could easily of said to the goal umpire. "Okay you think that its touched the post ...we will just go upstairs to confirm"

no problem

As i anticipated, a Sorry, stood the Ump down for the season and result stands as is.

Putrid and changes nothing.

This Is Fine GIF

For those who can't access this, one of the key issues with goal line footage is that the best camera settings for general viewing are not the same as those for enabling the best possible review footage. Unless the AFL invests in its own camera setup at both ends of every AFL ground, it is dependent on the broadcaster's cameras, which are not optimised for that job.

They're also looking at chip-in-ball tracking as a future solution.

I think the Matildas have assured that Soccer will be the number one sport in the next decade in Australia, for Females anyway.

Glad that we have to sit through at least 3 pointless reviews each week because the ump "just wants to make sure" but when it's a call that literally decides a team's finals destiny? "Nah all good"

Ridiculous but on brand for the AFL
Gonna be a lot more than 3 pointless reviews per game now. Umps will be reviewing anything they have even the slightest doubt about.

In fairness it all happened quick and by the time anyone had time to process what had happened the ball was already on the wing.

Should be a good learning curve going forward. The umpire obviously backed himself in, which they’ve been hounded all year for not doing, so they can’t really win either way.

But that being said, you have to read the room here and not do it in the last minute of a season defining game. Should be reviewing everything in the last 2 minutes of a tight game, regardless of how long it takes.

What about giving the team captains the opportunity to make a limited number of reviews per game?

So it can become like cricket where reviewing is now a skill that helps win/lose matches?

No thanks

Just spend the money and get it right, or can it completely.
It certainly isn't stopping howlers like it was supposed to

I heard the same thing when the socceroos went on that run at the world cup years ago. There's a big difference in bandwagoners jumping on an event vs them actually committing to play a sport.

The issue with Soccer is the local league sucks, people will always prefer the premier league.

It is a bit like the WAFL you may have people that love it and follow their team but the general fan will only watch the best league

Last three words in the post you quoted are key
