I don't think it's obsession to say "I hate this team above all others and don't want them to achieve any success". Also by that logic wouldn't we be "obsessed" with the Vic sides?

No one is suggesting Essendon win a final

Them making finals and losing >>> Essendon missing finals

I’ll support whatever result is best for WCE. In this case Essendon winning means they are more likely to finish above the Hawks, which will improve the R1 pick they offer for Barrass. It also means Freo’s own 1R pick will be better if the mooted trade to us goes ahead.

Essendon are the club I dislike the most but given the above scenario I will support them today. My love of the Eagles trumps any dislike I feel for other clubs so I will be barracking for the result that is in our best interest.

Not forced in the least , in my case was grown and nurtured by sth's and east as a young kid, was just natural progression when the filthy purple skum entered the comp.

They were incorporated into the AFL in a time of West Coast dominance in order to dilute the WA talent wanting to come back home to WA across 2 sides, and thus preventing us from being a powerhouse superclub.

They were built as a check-and-balance to us. They disgust me.

EDIT: Oh and a good third of their supporter base are turncoats. "Traitor" is in their blood.
