A bit of a side story - our son played his standard few years in school junior footy at Halls Head. In his under 14 team was this kid who was bigger and more solid than the rest of the scrawny school kids. This kid was already developed and just stood out amongst everybody on both teams whenever he played, clearances, clunking marks, kicking goals, he was everywhere, knew how to position himself. It was almost like him alone versus the other team. I imagine this was how Harley looked in junior footy (not saying this kid is as good as Harley).
His name is Reece Torrent and was picked up by Brisbane in the '23 draft.
Be interesting to see how he goes at AFL level.

Another one we missed?

He’s looked good in the reserves, but all our WA kids are a fair way down the pecking order. Except Starcevich.

Don’t know how they keep their spirits up to be honest. Tunstill looked like he was mailing it in towards the end of last season.

Where’s Zakostelsky at? Had some groin issues early but haven’t heard much about him since.

There was a kid like that they played at Warnbro Swans with my son a few years back - was just a big step up from everyone else on the team. Based on size he did all the rucking

Would loved to have seen what he could do at AFL level, but he chose a different path...

Just watched highlights of the 94 Prelim Geel v NM

What an epic game!

We smashed them the week after

One of those years where a surprise prelim result meant a less than optimal GF matchup

A North v WCE grand final in 94 would have been epic

Carlton beating Essendon in 1999 was the same - should have been a Essendon v North GF that year

GWS defeating Collingwood in 2019. Epic at the time, but we all knew what Shiẞen awaited the following week.

A derby GF would have been off the charts

Pav tore his calf in the prelim and would have been on one leg if he played
Fyfe broke his leg and wouldn't have played
McPharlin wouldn't have got up for the game

Freo would have been ripe for the plucking

Knowing them though they probably would have got up somehow. The spirit of Hasleby would have risen.

It was a weird year for games vs them. They blitzed us in the first game vs them (89 - 17 at one point) before they put the cue in the rack and we closed it to 111 - 81 at the end.

Second game (the infamous 'parity' match) we jumped them in the first quarter before easing to a 104-80 win

They were relying heavily on jumping teams in the first quarter and coasting to wins after that (due to their aging list probably), but seemed to be running out of steam by the end of the season and lost 4 of their last 6 games.

Pies knocking off the tiggas in '18.

i reckon we would have won convincingly.

They often pulled off victories against us when we were the more fancied team. Not in recent years but back from 2000 to 2020. We lost to them during our flag years.

We won both games in 2018
