Clarkson is a mutt.

It's probably poor taste, but I (like many on here) have had to read for close to a decade all the sanctimonious nonsense espoused by so many Hawthorn supporters about our football club, and to see their Messiah being torn down and exposed for the grub he is ... Well ... It feels good. It feels like justice.

You taking this personally is hilarious. Not surprising in the slightest either. Take the day off posting ffs.

Don't intend to create the impression that im taking it personally. That's my mistake.

I just find it disingenuous when people can't let a story breath enough to recognise its severity. The brownie points are more important than anything.

When you talk about systemic racism it necessarily means that there is an ingrained acceptance, an automatic barrier. This is not a situation that invites the sort of moral ambiguity and subjectivity of everything that is captured by systemic racism.

Its like comparing negligent manslaughter with murder.

I’m reading Hawks supporters asking for innocence until proven guilty… I mean, it would feel like a genuine, unbiased request if these same ****ers had’ve also stood tall in asking for the same due process for Hird and the 34 players who had their characters assassinated through the media for about 4 years. Go **** yourselves Hawk supporters (well, a proportion of you), your club might not survive a drawn out saga. Better hope it gets sorted quickly.

Ah indeed I have. But nevertheless it's on the same wave length of no publisher would actually go that deep into it for risk of losing the story anyway, to me. (so back to my first post of "well you wouldn't be very successful"). The publisher is not a court and their focus would be on gathering multiple sources, doing checking on the things they're stating (do you have proof of this and that, etc which is somewhat referenced in the article itself with the notes of emails in the second case study) and then the lawyers going through each line to ensure that defamation risk is cleaned. they'd wouldn't go about it in a brutal way because they risk losing the story.

They're dealing with a guy who was suicidal who will now become subject to intense public focus.

Sure it creates a publication issue but this story is about people. You don't burn individuals you rely on for a story like this.

How can the story be more important? They are necessarily one in the same.

For all we know, he may still be. Losing a child, whether to abortion, miscarriage or still birth is a heck of a trauma.

I hope a certain moderator is suffering in his jocks.

This is just a snippet of Eddie on 360 tonight. Very powerful, you can see how much it impacts him, everyday.

He was a magnificent footballer, yet his greatest legacy could be for his actions performed off field.

I think he's my favourite non Essendon player by a fair margin.

Is it just what I've seen/heard today or have all ex-Hawthorn players that have spoken about this today said they were completely oblivious to it occurring and are justifiably shattered by the allegations, yet they all speak as if it's fact?

Lewis, Hodge, Burgoyne, Mitchell. It looks like they all believe the players at their word which doesn't augur well for Clarkson and co.

Not just you. The language is entirely different from them.

Interesting observation. You're spot on.

None have said they cant believe it could occur.
I guess you dont wanna be that guy with the allegations so fresh and serious. But likewise you dont wanna get pulled into it.

Jeepers, after the report and listening to Eddie Betts the grand final feels irrelevant.
I was just saying to friends before, between a busy day at work and this, I genuinely forgot there was even a grand final on in three days until about 3pm today.

We all knew Kennett was a massive campaigner, and I guess we knew Clarkson was one too but I don't think anyone expected it to be to this extent. It's hard to see how any of the people named can have any involvement in the AFL moving forward.

also, I guess this means lol norf is back on the menu

Exactly, this isn't a Hawthorn problem, its an entire society problem. This isn't only in the past, its happening today, and it'll happen tomorrow.

I can't really understand how people can feel sorry for North, its an absolute disgrace what happened to those players and they deserve the whole societys support. However they don't even feel like they can come out publicly because of what might happen to them.

For every Héritier Lumumba or Adam Goodes there's thousands people that don't feel supported or safe enough to call out the racism.
Edited.

Kennett (as yet) has not been implicated. Massive campaigner though.
