This Van Rooyen kid is no joke
There has been a number of Melbourne supporters questioning how long it has taken him to get into the side. He has had the opposite journey to Jones and it is showing as he looks good whereas Jones has run out of confidence from playing the top level without the form and fitness behind him. Hopefully Jones can have a run of form in the VFL and come back the same way.

Confidence is a funny thing, Van Rooyen looks like he has it in spades despite not being involved in that game at all until 10 minutes into the last quarter and Harrison Jones looks completely devoid of it after hitting the post against the pies despite doing all the requisite work and being entitled to some.

Also Richmond are an absolute house of cards.

Good call.

So like, I was gonna say this is the almost the perfect tank job by Richmond. Play to win every game, have young guys like Ryan and Cumberland show good signs, and fall away late in games due to not being good enough to play four quarters yet. Ends up been frustrating for Richmond fans in the moment due to how good they've been previously, but works out for them when they finish up with a top ten pick come season's end.

...Then I remembered that they gave up their 2023 first rounder for Hopper, so they won't even get the soothing reward at the end of all this. And Bolton recently signed a contract extension, so they potentially can't even get picks out of West Coast or Fremantle for him if he chooses to go home. They've pulled a Hawthorn and ****ed themselves by thinking they could keep their window open by trading picks for established stars.

Granted, they could sort themselves out when Nankervis and Lynch come back from injury. But right now, it's ****ing hilarious. **** Richmond and **** Dimma.

Jordan Lewis saying no way AFLPA go for trading players against their will because if clubs sign contracts they should be prepared to honour them is one of the funniest things I've heard this year.

So players won’t get traded against their will but will happily sign a contract and then ask for a trade to a specific club and bend their current club over a barrel.

I was about to make the same point about Ablett. Also if past players can take action against the clubs for CTE, then what's to stop players from taking action for other injuries sustained on the field or at training?
Ablett will say the CTE caused his drug use

And the 19 year old girls thing was caused by his addiction to doing whatever he wanted to defenders

It's funny but sad because it's true.

Imagine if we got half way through the season and a bottom side trades key pieces (ruck, key forward, small forward) to a contender in exchange for picks at the end of the year.

A) the price that bottom sides would be able to demand would be astronomical

B) tanking?

Could take the equalisation debate to a new low too.

You could cap it by only trading midseason or rookie draft picks I guess 🤔

Player only trades perhaps? Good point you make. Imagine the damage Clarko or Mitchell could do to a list in the race for #1 this year...

Bring it in.

Not to mention that we all love taking the massive deal from the club we love and bust up the salary cap in the process, with no appreciation for our role in the damage.

I'd bring in total club control of movement just to spite the player agents.
