Agree, must be dumb as a post to not realise the umpire is calling back the guy standing the mark.

I give the benefit of the doubt to the player who isn't triggering because he isn't hearing his name called. Probably focusing on where he has to be next in the zone or his breathing.
Same as how you could be standing next to a group having a convo while your in another conversation and wouldn't hear a thing they said, until as soon as you hear your name you are alerted to the convo.

Ump had to pay the 50m because he wasn't to know he had got the name wrong but it was that error that caused it.

I agree the ump made an error but there wasn't exactly an overwhelming amount of crowd noise at the game and the ump wasn't that far away. Not too many people get spoken to, especially to move back a metre or 2, when a mark is being manned.

I guess the stand rule could confuse the issue where O'Halloran thought he'd better not move lest he give away a 50 since the umpire was (perhaps in O'Halloran's eyes) speaking to Brent Daniels about something outside of his vision.

Terrible 50 in my opinion. Not even sure why he was required to move back 2 metres given the was stranding on the spot where the mark was controlled.

carlton are in no man's land? i'm not so sure.
maybe they are exactly where they are supposed to be.
The disconnect between what the board is saying and what the match committee (and it's supporters want) is parallels apart at the moment

Luke Sayers has said finals was must prior to season starting, now he's saying it's not the end of the world. Voss is saying they shouldn't be and now they have a list capable of
