Carlton will sack Voss just before we play them to give them the new gloss win. FFS

Unfortunately when they finish near the bottom they usually grab a jet in the draft.West Coast are in a very rough place at the moment.
Kinda love to see it.
Wonder if the back surgery has impacted his movement and confidenceWalsh looks nothing like the next big thing out there. He looks lost, caught in between transitions and unable to win his own ball.
I want carltons umpiringJeez, wish our forwards got those free kicks Curnow just got. Nothing in that
I think the umpiring has been pretty equal between the Pies and Blues. Just that some players get more decisions that favour them personally - paid or not paid againstJeez, wish our forwards got those free kicks Curnow just got. Nothing in that
I reckon Voss has blown the year up trying to do the right thing.
The problem last year was getting belted outside which resulted in long and damaging periods within games during which Carlton would haemorrhage scores.
At the start of the year, it looked to me that they were trying to do something like Geelong 2020, maintain possession and control tempo as a way of neutralising a superior running game of an opponen.
It's not perfect but then Hollands joins Walsh and Acres and they have more running power between the arcs to start with a more chaotic, Richmond/Pies style.
Clearly shift in focus has upset their ball movement. It only takes a few weeks for the rot of no confidence to set in.
It will be interesting to see what happens internally from here. It has a similar feeling to Rutten and Essendon 2022, the key factor will be Voss' credibility.
He got into the game a bit more after I wrote that but he definitely looked more Tom Scully than Gary Ablett Jr today.Wonder if the back surgery has impacted his movement and confidence
There was a funny comment from Brad Scott on one of the interviews or pressers he did recently where he was reflecting on how the type of player you are influences the type of coach you become.I think that the footy world is coming around to the realisation that Vossy ain’t much of a senior coach.
I don't think its a hard and fast rule, like Leigh Matthews had some success and would be in the handful of greatest players at all times. There was a funny comment from Brad Scott on one of the interviews or pressers he did recently where he was reflecting on how the type of player you are influences the type of coach you become.
Iirc he used Voss as an example, saying someone who is such a good player would just be like “do what I did” and players might struggle with that. Whereas Brad enjoyed the challenge every week and worked hard and that’s how he coaches…
It’s an interesting sort of concept that deserves more thought than I have time for atm
but it makes for an interesting case study, especially when you get coaches making comebacks with a different team, how different are they really, or is it more the environment that suits them better/worse than before?
There’s exceptions to the rule, but I’ve thought players with less natural ability made better coaches. Maybe they had to be more cerebral in their approach than your natural ability types? There was a funny comment from Brad Scott on one of the interviews or pressers he did recently where he was reflecting on how the type of player you are influences the type of coach you become.

I did some work for a guy who was a rookie under Polly Farmer at West Perth early 70s and that's what he was like - he reckons Farmer would go too hard at them and that "if I could do it you can too". This guy said to me ""most of us simply didn't have anywhere near the natural talent he had".Iirc he used Voss as an example, saying someone who is such a good player would just be like “do what I did” and players might struggle with that.
Good god this made me snort laugh
Exhibit A - Razor RayAn ex WAFL umpire told me if you gave them lip you wouldn't get decisions in your favour. I said umpires should be professional enough to put that aside and make objective decisions based on the rules and actions taken by players - he was resistant to this.
I mean, who else would he be calling to get back 2m but still
