Why didn't the AFL schedule it so both teams that got through the semi had a minimum 7 day break. Giants have 6 days and Carlton 8 days.
I did hear the reason but I forget why . Something from last week effecting this week I guess. Not sure it really matters IMO.

eDPS was Horne-Francis this much of a butcher/slam booter of the footy at u18 level?
Nah that’s what the pressure of a final can do to even seasoned AFL players

wonder if BZT was watching that game
He's on the phone to his agent now.

Tom Green please.

If GWS was a normal team, the industry would be going crazy about the depth of its quality.

Top 5 picks all over the place, and they seem to be able to get the good ones, too. Then you have players who would have been top 5 but for anomalies in the rules: Hogan, who probably goes top 3 in an open draft, instead of that min-draft pre-selection thing, Tom Green was academy.

Later first round and academy players all over the place.

It's 3 generations of top end talent from old (e.g. Greene, Kelley, Whitfield, Hogan and Cognilio), middle (e.g. Himmleberg, Perryman and Cumming) and young (e.g. Ash, Green and Callaghan) now with a smattering of role players. It's not like they haven't developed a Sam Taylor and Idun along the way, either.

The competition should be grateful they hired Cameron as coach then kept him so long. I was always baffled.

Not sure what players they got out of the deal with Geelong but if they had Jeremy Cameron in this side they would be unbeatable - they almost already are in current form. He missed a sitter last night but Bedford was competitive for a little guy and very creative with smart tap ons and dish offs to teammates. Many here were wanting us to go after him and I can see why that is the exact type of small forward we need express pace. They were continually losing guys but kept nailing the draft picks they got for them and are now at the point they have a coach and guys will probably want to stay - they look happy.

I think it was bruhn, stone and angwin
Whilst giving geel picks back for Willis and knevitt.

Their autopsy thread was entertaining last night
yeah i was talking about it with a mate who goes for norf, extremely entertaining.

for a club that’s existed since the 90s there’s worse places you could be at

But neither Rats nor BZT can play lockdown. They've both been intercepting as well.
Rats is not really an interceptor. He gets to play on the bigger guys. BZT plays second tall and Alir intercepts. Works better than what they are doing now.

Watching GWS makes you realise how far off we are, and how far away our list management priorities have been in regards to recruiting/developing strong runners. We were cooked at round 16, GWS are producing what they did last night 2 months later. Wild.
Yes mate I knew this finals series would really drive it home. Even if we start now and have a poorer version of GWS for a while I don't mind - we just need to be a genuine competitive team for a few full seasons on end to develop culture in the right direction its going to be a slow burn. It seems though we are stuck in a list management mindset from decades ago with a twist - we bring in guys who butcher the ball. It seems so many of our guys will only play ok if half back and that is because of the skillset of the player we bring in.

As an aside how good was Coniglios tackle on Lycett to bring him down htb.

I’ll stop banging on about it now 😂🤟 but man, it’s just incredible we’ve missed the boat on this given some of us have been saying it since hawthorn was running all over teams… while we muck around with KPPs year after year.

Coniglio, Whitfield, Kelly, Greene, Taylor… what an amazing group of leaders they have there. And they’re all jets. And that’s not mentioning Ward, who was great.

For every free hit, they leak quality players

Adams
Treloar
Shiel
Cameron
Taranto
Hopper
Bruhn (who was part of cameron)
Hill

They’ve managed to mostly extract good trade value for all of them though, partly because they’re often playing for academy guys and aren’t really working in the same draft currency as the rest.
