It will be 5 years anchored at the bottom of the ladder at the end of the year.

Sure, they'll give Clarkson enough time to turn it around and it will come good.

If success follows it will be attributed to the strategy.

But who will care by the time that happens, and what about a range of different counterfactual scenarios?

What about a few years of picks with Wood, McKay, Durdin and Dumont. Why isn't that as much of a chance as winning a flag in the time frame North is looking at. It's a time frame extended by the incompetence of not trading pick 1 when they held it in 2021.

They don't deserve anything at the end of this. I feel sorry for the 125 fans they have.

Toby is a good guy. The rule is moronic. Commentators saying that the duty of care is owed to the defender who is running backwards rather than to the attacker who is being delivered the ball.

They are trying to change the game for sure. They have to be seen to be doing everything they can to avoid head injuries or they will be in court for ever and a day.
Sins / attitudes of the past have landed us in this space.

They are going to need some decent money ball types via FA or they will not get anything out of LDU and Larkey and co before it is too late. Need a few good ordinary hard at it team players and some decent KP defenders .

Three main issues
1. In what world would any half decent free agent decide to go to north right now, no one wants to play in a losing side.
2. Nearly every player they’ve traded in on big money has been a dud, corr, fisher, Stephens, stephenson etc
3. They get nothing out of their senior players (minus Larkey) the young kids have to fight the fight while the older guys just kill them. The senior blokes should be leading the way- it’s why west coast have half a chance to be competitive while they’ve got McGovern, barrass, yeo and Kelly at full fitness. McDonald, simpkin, zurhaar, corr give them nothing week after week and are some of the worst players on the ground.

We now at least have confirmation that bigger and heavier players have way more to worry about.

Can make the same action or worse but if the bloke you are hitting is the same size as you or bigger you’re more or less sweet.

They need fringe FAs to stop the kids being asked to play out of their skins just to make the side competitive each week.

They’re hoping a 2nd season Wardlaw can carry their inside midfield work… for a whole season…

Was the Carlton player concussed? 1 week for an the exact same thing as 2MP.

no doubt but my point is they could do that by penalising the reckless defender rather than the attacking player. Or, if they want the attacking player to pull out of contests, have a ball up. Saying that an attacking player owes a greater duty of care to the defender than he owes to himself and that the defender has no responsibility to either player in this situation only changes the game for the worse without necessarily preventing head injuries.

The issue is, they’re going fringe fa’s 4/5 year deals on good money. That doesn’t help. Corr on 650k is an embarrassment

It's going to be a lot longer than 5. Tasmania is going to get a lot more concessions than GWS and Gold Coast did and the talent pool is going to be even more diluted.

They had 7 first round picks to Hawthorn's 2 today and still got flogged.

Seriously at this point North are barely a VFL team, seriously put them against any VFL team in the top 10 at this point and I still wouldn't take them with a 5 goal head start. Hell I'd take the odds on a VAFA team against them. They're just that bad

Yeah they have Clarko and all but what have he and his staff done besides losing Harley Reid?

The problem is they have to pay people like Corr 650k just to make them want to go. What half decent free agent is going to willingly play for North for market price?

Think any club that didn’t go to West Coast with some sort of Godfather offer should be kicking themselves.

He is the sort of generational talent you throw the kitchen sink at and as a Victorian boy there was an opportunity to do a deal with WCE. Maybe everyone did have a crack at it, dunno. He is the sort of real top end talent we haven’t had for an eternity.
