Well good luck when Ford pull the Falcon out of service and the entire Fraud driving public have to contend with the American built front wheel drive Tauras as the Fords only large car world wide.

Same will happen to holden eventually! They are only being propped up by GM..They are broke and the Elizabeth plant will soon look like Mitsubishi's plant!
Empty, cold and damp:eek:

Rubbish!

If anything, they are talking about building more cars for the overseas market.

Ford people - don't even try defending Ford's decision to dump the Falcon, we all know deep down that you are all pissed off by the decision.

Ford Taulolrus

Hope Our Luck Doesn't End Now

Worked at a Ford dealer for 10 years and Holden almost 4...Wouldn't piss on either..

The old man has worked at a Holden dealer for 40 years. Mum's last 2 cars have been a Toyota Celica and a Toyota MR2...

Drive a Holden myself (only because it's company supplied ;))

Of course we are pissed off, who in their right mind wouldn't be:(
What does it mean for V8 supercars and the like.....finished!

So quickly people forget!!!!
Remember this from:AAP, May 31, 2009
"Earlier this month, Holden announced it would switch to a single shift at its assembly operations in Adelaide, helping to save workers' jobs and the facility survive the global economic downturn."

Does this sound like a liguid company ready to build more cars for an overseas market that is still in recession??
I don't think so. Falcon is just the beginning and Holden/Commodore will be next.....the writings on the wall!!

Sad but true.................

Yeah but this announcement to cut production was made before this latest idea of increasing production, and the global recession would have played a significant role as well.

The recession however will not last forever, and as soon as the effects have stopped being felt, production should increase back to normal levels. Afterall, the Commodore is the best selling car in Australia.

The Commodore is here to stay.

quite the opposite, GM is basically bankrupt, they have been bailed out by the US government. holden is GM's crown jewel, its the only company they have that makes a profit.

if ford is getting rid of the falcon (i don't hink this will happen, there best bet is to buy up technology and release a car like the mondeo with rear wheel drive and a super economical engine that has the power of the 4litre

and go the fords!

Yes true to a certain degree, but the world is changing and now with the commercial release of more green cars there will be less dependance on the gas guslers like Falcons and Commodores!

Ford has read the writing on the wall and has pumped millions into developing cars like the Fiesta ECOnetic. That is where they see the future and as much as I and you don't want to see that future for our favouite cars, it will happen, not if but when!:(

Falcon is just the beginning and when Holden see the poularity of the green cars they will have to follow suit as sales inevitably decline!

Sad but true.........................................

well it seems you holden boys
jumped the gun!
seems the new FALCON will be based on the mustang chassi[spelling]
the chassi will be built in aus for a common worldwide 6 and v8 rear wheel drive
all sounds good to me..
the FALCON lives......

Of course. But the present local production should continue for several years, until the models need to be fully modernised and updated. Estimated to be around 2015.
It will take a while for Ford to plan properly for the changeover.
Most others who import their range are doing very nicely, so it can be done.
Mazda, Hyundai, Toyota, Nissan, Subaru and so on.
Not the end of the world.

Holden people WANT to Falcon to exist, otherwise our beloved V8 Supercars wouldn't exist.

Id like to hear all the ford idiots talk big when we wipe them off the track at Clipsal, they lost there only 2 good drivers in whincup and lowndes. Also lost a gun young driver in Fabian Couthard. They will be lucky to have 2 cars in the top 10 after the sunday race. F*** the Fords, junk pile on wheels. Holdens Rule, always have always will.

Right before you said "You can drive this little beauty right off the lot. But the price is only good today so you need to sign here. I'm telling you, it's a deal. At that price, I'm not making any money. You're practically stealing it from me. Don't worry about your credit, I'll get Merv in accounts to set you up on a sweet payment plan. Let me just check with my manager." *walks inside and then comes back out without talking to anyone* "Yeah, the boss isn't happy letting it go for that price but I twisted his arm. Sign here, here and here. I'll just get Macca to jump start it and you're on your way."
